The Iowa College Ad Project and Grassroots Web Portal - Chip-in Included

and oh, I now just noticed that you donated too!
So a 'nice one' to you too! :D
Feels good, doesnt it?

It does, although I'm a broke student at the moment.

I'm abstaining from all luxuries to save up for donations. My sixth-form college is right next to Sainsbury's (which is a supermarket for anyone who doesn't know this) and the money I save from not going in there I am giving to chipins.

Who can participate?
Anyone who will be 18 years old by the date of the presidential election. If you are eligible to vote for president, you're eligible to participate in a caucus.

You must also be a registered Democrat to attend and vote at a Democratic caucuses. Republicans also require you to register with their party to participate and vote. Both parties allow you to register or change your registration at the caucus site. So, for example, a no-party voter could show up, register and participate.

Des Moines Register is the biggest newspaper in Iowa (I grew up in Iowa), they are liberal, but reliable.

So any hope Nevada to be added to the list of this project?

It's possible, this project's long term goal is to focus on supporting as many early states as we can. We should know more in a week or two.

Yes and boots on the ground is the only way to do it.

Which is what needs to be done.

Helping people to organize in the early states, so to make sure people actually cast their vote is essential. Boots on the ground, creating a network, spreading the word and attaching those new voters to the network, and on the day it counts, get all ready to go outside and vote, whatever the weather!

The early states hold the key. We MUST perform well over there! Ron Paul must score to get momentum in the press, or it wont work. We need the masses to join/follow our course. And that will only happen if dr Paul does great in the first few states. So choose your activity/activities to support and act.

+rep, thanks!!!

What does the trademark mean here?

A lot of software companies particularly gaming companies have used the term (half jokingly) in response to questions about a particular title launch date for new features or updates in the last fifteen years, particularly because of technical and scope creep that occurs with every project, world of warcraft comes to mind.

Our team is made up of non paid volunteers with differing schedules that fluctuate, it's difficult to pinpoint an exact time line because of the realities of daily life. That is not to say though that the volunteers are not working around the clock in some cases, this past week I personally put in 50+ hours into this project for example.

But to answer the original question directly I would say we are looking to have something up ideally in the next week or two depending how quickly we can fulfill the requirements for launch.

As far as when we plan to launch the site, we're targeting the first week of November.

We cemented plans for core functionality of the website (time-critical objectives) and debated some creative features we plan to add later, when the site is online. We've put a lot of time and work into this project, especially orenbus who has been handling website development from the ground up and putting in 40+ hour weeks into this project. Aside from managing this project, I've also been mining and organizing the FEC data (Q2, Q3 2011) for Ron Paul's campaign for early states.

We appreciate your patience until the site is ready to accept users for registration, and we will alert everyone here when that happens. We are targeting to finish core functionality needed for launch within a week or so, barring unforeseen circumstances, and are trying to bring a graphic designer on board to help with the look and feel of the site.

This project has been approached from the standpoint of scalability, as well as realistic objectives in the time that we have with the manpower that we have. We hope to expand the site well-beyond Iowa. The infrastructure will be in place to handle eventual nationwide expansion. To be clear, the registration will be open to users nationwide, but *promotion* of the site (such as the ad campaign) will of course be geared to the early primary and caucus states.

To reiterate the point I made before, our website is a centralized locator/organizer/notifier tool for Ron Paul grassroots, which requires some form of location data to register. It is NOT a forum site - it's strictly an organizational tool to link up Ron Paul supporters in early states, help them find local Ron Paul supporters for meet-ups, allow them to suggest meet-ups, and notify them of local (or nation-wide) meet-ups, events, critical location-tailored election info, etc. In other words, the website we're developing to support the ad campaign is NOT a competitor to Ron Paul Forums in any way, nor is it meant to replace any functionality of Ron Paul Forums. We will include a banner link to Ron Paul Forums to direct our registrants here for forum discussions.

Thank you for all your donations, your support, and your patience. We haven't been posting here much because we're busy moving this project along.

Another place you could advertise.

http://www.iowalum.com

That's a good thought, but since a lot of the alumni will be scattered all over, it's hard to see to what extent we would reach Iowa residents.

Furthermore,

Iowa Alumni Magazine said:
Iowa Alumni Magazine does not accept advertising for tobacco products, alcohol products, personal hygiene products, partisan politics, or solicitations for political support, public issues, or other non-university related causes.

On their website, I didn't see any advertisement for anything non-univertsity related either. So, at just about the same rate as we would get online with the Iowa State Daily, I'd much rather do Iowa State Daily online ads with increased limit of hits (or U of Iowa's Daily Iowan online).
