====> ::::: The ALL Glenn Beck Thread ::::: <=====

Maybe you missed my point. This isn't about Glenn Beck and his ratings... its about holding people in his position accountable for hate speech. (defined as speech that could lead to the discrimination and/or violence towards a certain group..)
I am not advocating calling cnn or beck...or going to his website... i say.. ignore those things... ignore him, but don't ignore what he said.... and voice your opinion to the people who put up the money so he could say those things.

I understand your point - and sympathize. My concern is blowback -- that going after Beck will give him additional ammunition to attack with and damage the campaign more than if we'd just ignored him.

Compared to some of the other venom he's spewed, this attack seems almost tame.

I just hope the efforts to contact sponsors pays off and doesn't backfire.

Shouldnt we have some type of press release expanding this boycott to all the levels of media so they can report on glenn becks statement, which is far worse then what imus said.

Protesting the sponsors is exactly what needs to be done. We cannot allow ourselves to be slandered by by Glenn Beck. Even if this ups his ratings a little, it won't last for the long run.

Honestly, watching him for the full hour for getting the advertiser list was painful in some parts. He spent nearly 10 minutes plugging his book!

The worst part is, he had a great segment on showing some of the difficulties of illegal immigration in Arizona. That was a great piece he showed.

But to hint we're terrorists? (or not respond to his guest for it), that was unexcusable. Ron Paul has never endorsed violence to achieve political means nor have any of his supporters. We shouldn't accept the label by ignoring him no matter what his ratings are. This is a matter of principle, not politics.

One simple fact Beck missed: Overseas soliders have donated more money to Ron Paul then any other candidate. Is Beck calling them terrorists as well?

Dugg. Thanks. If the Glenn piece shows up on YouTube we need to get it on the most discussed list and put that Daily Paul article in the comments.

Same here. I do see him lashing out once he gets wind that his sponsors are pulling out because of his hate speech, but by that time... perhaps CNN would have pulled the plug on his already failing show. No one should be rewarded for inciting hate. If the MSM would pick up the story like they did for Imus, he would lose any credibility he has left with the public before he could even muster another hate filled episode.

The 3 most popular sponsors would be Geico,Bayer and verizon. These are house hold names compared to the others.

Forcing corporations to pull support over controversial statements is the American way. And frankly the whole...oh you are Ron Paul supporter so you gotta act like Jesus is a little too much.
Think about the positives.

Then think about the negatives.

Is this about holding Glenn Beck to account for being a loudmouth idiot with declining ratings, or is it about getting Dr. Paul elected?

This is exactly the wrong kind of publicity the grassroots needs if it is successful. That we somehow strong armed a semi-popular radio and television host into getting fired. It sends the wrong message to people about what we are fighting for. It's the kind of infamy that the Dean grassroots had.

But by all means, indulge your petty grievances. At least if Beck gets removed, I will be free from the next two months of,

"Glenn Beck said mean things!", "Glenn Beck is ignoring us!" threads.

Maybe you guys should get Chris Matthews fired as well. Those threads are equally stupid and pointless.

Even Hannity doesn't stoop as low to call Democrats terrorists? Did he really go this far, or was it all innuendo.

No press releases, please. This should be done quickly and quietly. Beck's ratings have been down for a long time, this was an obvious attempt at a boost, and we really don't want to give him the attention.

Also, CNN has been VERY nice to us recently, and we should be thanking them for all of the good stories they have ran instead of berating them on their bad egg.

I'm sure between his horrendous ratings and the blowback he will get from his sponsors when we quietly and politely tell them all "No thank you", that we can send a pretty damn clear message to the MSM that there is a line you don't cross if you wish to have "viewers" and "sponsors".

Anyway, that's my .02

I agree. I used to watch his show all the time for a long time. This guy thrives on attention (obviously since he's been on a hissy fit since RP turned his interview down) - ignoring him is exactly what he doesn't want.

Moderators should be able to set a per-thread setting that blocks it from getting indexed by search engines. One way of accomplishing this is by including a meta tag: <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow" />

We wouldn't want to block all of the forums, just selectively cut out the threads that mention things the RP forums don't want to promote or associate itself with.

What do you guys think?

Hannity might not be saying it, but his long time forum moderators are:

I've got more where that comes from... as you can see I'm documenting all the hate speech generated by the neocon faithful... what was the neocon term for it.. ah yeh, "dead-enders"

Class action lawsuit for defamation, anyone? ;)

j/k

No, that's the kind of crap he wants. This should be done quickly and quietly. Beck's ratings have been down for a long time, this was an obvious attempt at a boost, and we really don't want to give him the attention.
