Suggestions for RPF.com

It is simple. YOU HURT RON PAUL BY DOING THIS. You fracture us as a group, move us into little tiny rooms where nothing gets read and nothing gets done.

If you want to HURT RON PAUL then keep this new system. If all you care about is how your precious forum is organized and if posts are in the proper place, then by all means split us all up into little groups. Send off into rooms by ourselves.

Besides, you better get rid of the word discussion in the main room title because there is not one thing that doesn't belong under that category.

Why not make 10000 categories. Then you can keep things really neat and tidy. Of course nothing will ever get DONE FOR RON PAUL, but then that doesn't seem to MATTER!!!!!!!

I agree

They want to make an impact. They want the forum mods to see how angry they are. What better way than by boycotting the forums? We who are satisfied with the changes will continue posting. Its like a free market!

Hey, it was Utah's idea. Complain to him. Oh wait, he's been banned.

OK, I thought better of this after I posted it, so I'm just going to grit my teeth on this from now on.

Me, I'd like to have a forum where the vast majority of threads are about specific actions moving the RP campaign forum forward rather than a forum whose focus is the RP campaign as entertainment. Clearly, those are the two ends of a spectrum, RPF sort of oscillates around. Use your best judgment, lets get RP in the white house, then we have time for lots of extraneous bs (which I'm as guilty of as anyone). I like murderous moderators to keep shit on track.

How can you seriously say this Josh.

Normally one or two threads would be moved that were sent to hot topics because that is were they belonged.

Today Foo move the overwhelming majority of threads out of the "news" section. When I looked at the page it had about 4 active threads and about 10 moved threads. This has never happened before. Threads about organizing donations for rallys and question about RP stances were moved and this has never happened before.

How can you say things are the same when you have over half of your active members complaining and upset.

I never have complained about a mod on a message board before in my life. But what happened today, in my opinion was either a power grab or not well considered. This is the most destructive thing that has happened to this message board in the two months I have been posting. :(

Please explain.

Because nothing has been changed. He made a point today with his posts. No one asked him to do it.

He isn't going to be reprimanded for it. He was saying something with his actions that no one really posts threads in the proper forums. The point was taken and the pot was stirred. It's not like this is going to be a daily thing and if it is then I will make an announcement. When I made Bradley and FooFighter new mods I told them to moderate with a light hand and they have done so for the most part.

Foo made a point today and now we are moving on as we were. I don't like or agree with everything that happened today, but no big deal. Tomorrow is another day. I understand some people are upset, but I can't undo anything.

Foo made a point today and now we are moving on as we were.

But Josh, can't you see these people demand blood? Nothing short of public hangings will suffice.

Seriously guys, I don't agree with this, and I hope I made my criticism/suggestions clearly and concisely throughout these drama threads with regards to a number of issues, but the reactions seem to be overboard and feeding off of eachothers' negativity. Josh says it's over. Let it rest.

On the other hand, Foo, you could've responded to the criticisms a lot better than just repeating, oft-snarkily, to use "new posts". Not everyone likes or wants to view the forum that way. You need to accept that just as you prefer one interfaces, others prefer something different.

.

Foo made a point today and now we are moving on as we were.

So what was the point?

That he is a mod and he can move people's threads to the abyss anytime he feels like it.

That is real encouraging for people with ideas. Why should they waste the time if Foo is going to throw their threads to places that no one goes to?

Can't you see the negative effects that this caused. Not much got done today and everyone is upset and your viewership is down.

I'm not saying to reprimand Foo, but at least stop this nonsense.

Serious Questions.

Or kylejacks control freak exclusivity trip.. Come on pal.. Show me what long string of nonsense and I will mop the floor with you feeding you reams of real world data to back up anything I have posted. Yer a mouthpiece for sure..and totally innocent of any baragrugous behavior in your mind. Ban people:confused: ..yeah..yer a real healthy boil on the campaign trail.

Randy

Kyle jack is a romney troll and hasn't done sh**^*%^

His point was that a lot of threads are created in RPN&N when they could be categorized elsewhere. He is a mod and can move threads when he wants, yes.

Here's my take before I hit the sack:

I don't understand what all the hullaballoo is about, but then again I don't browse threads by looking in the individual forums. I've always used the "New Posts" button because then I see threads that I might never have seen if I only browsed one or two of the various subforums.

I think the people who are threatening to leave over this really need to calm down.

But for what it's worth, I think that simplifying the forum structure would ultimately prove beneficial. Not everyone is familiar with VBulletin (or similar software) enough to know the most efficient ways to use it, so a complicated forum structure can stymie some people's efforts.

I like Bryan's suggestion of three main discussion forums:
  • Ron Paul News & Discussion - For commenting on recent developments & media coverage
  • General Politics & Other - for political discussion not explicitly related to Ron Paul
  • Campaign Projects - for projects like meetups, demonstrations, websites, polls, the Ames ad, or Sematary's awesome rally, which experienced a temporary hiccough because of the moved threads, but hasn't been derailed, despite the drama :)

Or something like that...

Anyway, I'm off for tonight. I hope the temper tantrum has subsided by tomorrow.

Good night, everyone.

RPN&D as it should be. If it ain't from the mainstream media or from the campaign, nor even tangentally about Ron Paul, it doesn't go here. If Dr Paul ain't there, or won't be there, it doesn't go here. This place would be to catalouge the man, not every tidbit about him.

IA and NH get their own? But WV is one of the first caucus states... WV should have our own, too. :(

Tell us again about how you're going to sue Josh Lowry. Truth is found within oneself. Look there for answers.

Im going to sue you you trouble maker...name one thing YOUR doing for this campaign my friend?????????

Sending money. Waving signs. Talking to friends and family. Not suing Ron Paul forum mods. My name is Kyle Nielsen and I'll see you in court where we'll all have a good laugh at your expense.

Take it to private message please.

This thread is for suggestions. Thanks.

Of all the idea's I have read - this is the one I like the best and IMHO would be the best way to handle the issues that are happening.

1. Grassroots seems like a Regional area. There can be plenty of forums under this category. Southeast, Northeast, Central, Pacific, Southwest, etcetera...

2. There's no need for a "Hot Topics" area. What are you going to do? Move all topics there once they become "hot"? All topics should be posted in the proper forum (or get moved there) and stay there so that new members know where to look for discussions in regards to the topic... It's really simple.

3. For anyone who's ignorant about the software being used here (vBulletin), click here.

4. To anyone who's crybabying about the recent changes, Swallow your pride and stop f'ing it up for Ron Paul. Just because things don't go YOUR way doesn't mean you should stop caring about the country you live in. Twerps.

It's just a draft idea! :)

I'm thinking maybe Iowa and NH may be better as the first five caucuses/primaries.

After those first 5, if we ain't still alive and kicking... Well, that ain't gonna happen! :D

Yes there is a need for a Hot Topics. Only members can read the Hot Topics posts so when someone gets a bit carried away it can be moved there and out of the eyesight of casual passers by.
I think Act Locally should just be Take Action. Web projects are not really local, and subdividing into regions would splinter support for global web projects. I really don't care what it's called, I just don't want it subdivided.
