Suggestions for RPF.com

Topics are all spread out now, and to me it is confusing. In "Ron Paul News & Discussion" there are stickies regarding various "action" projects like the TV ads for New Hampshire and operation campus blitz. If I posted a thread about a new project in the same place, it would probably now be moved.

There either needs to be some consolidation or clarification of forum topics.

Yes, the forum titles and desciptions are vague, and there are too many sub forums. But you work with what you got and you post accordingly as best you can.

Uhhh, that's what I thought we were doing...

As I stated earlier, I find it rather ironic that such a big stink was raised over this.

as stated earlier, I find it ironic that you took it upon yourself to screw up an effective board, vaguely titled news and discussion, in a campaign where the lack of news is a main concern.

You guys ignored the forum rules out of convenience, just like Congress ignores the Constitution (something we all agree is bad). When some one calls everyone on it, oh, that person is the bad guy. B.S.

We did not ignore rules out of convenience, we posted where we got responses. And you didn't call out anyone, you hatcheted the forum.

It used to be I would only net a few obvious threads. But over the past two weeks, more and more threads in here have been misfiled. I guess you could say I finally got tired of it. However, I didn't act then. I logged in and found a whole page already moved, either by Josh or Bryan. I followed suit.

Perhaps that is because more and more users were joining. It made me quite sad to see our foreign friends lost in the mess you created

Don't blame us for the non-adherence of others. You all agreed to the forum rules, you all then should follow them.

No, I blame you for letting it get out of hand in the first place. I find it quite telling that I have never seen a thread discussing this "problem"

Peace out. :)

I added a new word to my vocabulary last night, smarmy. I am not about to go sift thru all the BS to back up my point, but you were, and continue to be insulting and annoying. You insulted most of the activists on this board and then have the gall to post a "warning" about insulting behavior. Furthermore, the way you are trying to hide behind the coattails of Josh and "The Rules" indicates a distinctive irresponsible nature.

Me-thinks you should admit you screwed up and apologize for your insulting behavior

rules were enforced....forum rules..the rules......Neglience on their part creates no guilt on mine when I take corrective action.... per the forum rules. ...the forum rules ...

This isn't my fault alone. It isn't the posters fault. It's everyone's fault for shutting themselves into one thread instead of making the rounds and checking everything out. It's not that difficult to do.

I am multi tasking here and do not have the luxury of time you seem to. I tried your button this morning and found it unsuitable for my purpose. I will repeat that the reason the board was so effective was because we were all in one place. A place where we could stay abreast of many aspects of this campaign that is important to (a boots on the ground) activist like myself. Threads got buried on their own and the search button kept me abreast of posts I had contributed to.

...a mere enforcement of rules to which you agreed but weren't living up to. ...this forum is Josh's private property....enforcement of Josh's rules, ...

Other than trying to clean up your mess, what else are you going to do today to help our cause?

An apology to everyone might be a good place to start...

I think our new friend Sal has made it quite clear that his intentions here are to troll us.

Thanks for pointing that out, I was too tired and frustrated last night to recognize it.

Meanwhile, I've got to go and visit some people who want to hear about RP.

I'll be back soon and hopefully can get back to other constructive work.

Is it possible to have a thread in two spots.

So if we have a "general discussion" forum and a news article is initially placed there: Instead of move it to a "news" forum, just have it linked in "news". So it's in both spots, same exact thread.

I think that is the best way to solve this problem.

the end.

Well, all the things I was doing just got reclassified into dead forums with 0 viewers, so that makes carrying on a bit tough.

Whatever direction the forum takes, build the structure, then start moving posts.

I'd stick with Ron Paul News and Discussion, which would encompass everything even slightly related to Ron Paul and an Ongoing Projects thread for any project that is being worked on, no need to segregate web projects from campaign material projects, then maybe an 'everything else' forums.
I don't think most people are going to check more than 3 places for their info, so too many categories is just going to stifle innovation.

Thinking back to the two successful projects that I helped with, the Spam Drive and the Ames ad, these both would have been moved under the current acts of Foo, and neither would have been successful if they were created under todays management structure.

hear hear -- this is right on

the mods have done a great job here, and this is a good forum.

to improve it, i would make about 4 total sections. the news and discussion and general politics sections are perfect as is.

now if all the rest of the forums could be combined into 2 or maybe 3 other forums, then they could become active too.

1. news and discussion
2. general politics
3. campaign projects -- in progress (and in need of help, ideas)
4. campaign projects -- complete (and downloadable, viewable, discussable)

The fewer the categories, the better, IMHO. If it were mine to handle, I would have only one category. There's just no need to categorize until people can't keep up, and that's a ways off, yet. There are far more members on the Facebook group, but that forum has no categories, and it works just fine. Why make people click around when we're already all here for the same reason?

I second (or is it third?) foo's reorganization layout, but as I mentioned in another thread, we need a place for good material labeled as good for newspaper, handouts, etc. There is a lot of really good material being produced mentioned in multiple threads, but sometimes hard to find.

I'm sorry you bloody wankers want to have an in "depth disscussion" with yourselves. Gee, I didn't realise how Ron paul supporters could be divided and conquered so easily. Have a Big Mac and feel sorry for yuortselves,.

I'm a Austrralian Ron Paul junkie with credentials. I believe in all the things you are doing. Independent people will always have differences. Thats what it's all about,
