Suggestions for RPF.com

now hard@work, we have those offtopic forums, and you go there to complain that the posts are off-topic....

what gives?

haha nonono that's not what I meant. I mean chit chat forums. "Off Topic" not "hot topics". Just a place for the community to talk about self interests or whatever.

And to be fair, I already stated that I had made the mistake of misrecognizing the "hot topics" forum. I literally mistook it for the general politics forum and was blown away at the sheer number of topics that were only related to 9-11 CD. I was more concerned that there was no aftermath discussion than anything else - oh woe was me when I discovered I was actually a government agent upon accidentally suggesting that the forum (which I thought was a general forum) might need more than just CD theory discussion.

;-)

Now, I am a Zionist pig. I am actually enjoying it in there.

A straight up, all nonsense off topic board should be used, where we can talk about pizza and soccer and shampoo and the beach and ramble about how it's late and we should go to bed but we're staying up so we can talk about how we should go to bed.

You have no idea how much I have been dying to talk about how I prefer pepperoni pizza while shampooing during a late night beach soccer match.

Also admins, and I'm just throwing this out there because I'm beginning to doubt it's possibility, an OT forum might just miiiight relieve some tension and bring some civil friendly discussion about in HT.

:)

come on guys....maybe I'm behind in the loop, or maybe you are all missing it.

They did this to squash the trolls.

Funny thing is that we didn't make any changes. Foo just moved a few threads to make a point.

Brilliant. You have hard working people here and you want to kick them out?
They want to make an impact. They want the forum mods to see how angry they are. What better way than by boycotting the forums? We who are satisfied with the changes will continue posting. Its like a free market!

MOST OF OUR FREAKIN COUNTRY STILL HAS NOT HEARD OF RON PAUL and you want to kick out people who are helping.
Hey, it was Utah's idea. Complain to him. Oh wait, he's been banned.

It is simple. YOU HURT RON PAUL BY DOING THIS. You fracture us as a group, move us into little tiny rooms where nothing gets read and nothing gets done.

If you want to HURT RON PAUL then keep this new system. If all you care about is how your precious forum is organized and if posts are in the proper place, then by all means split us all up into little groups. Send off into rooms by ourselves.

Besides, you better get rid of the word discussion in the main room title because there is not one thing that doesn't belong under that category.

Why not make 10000 categories. Then you can keep things really neat and tidy. Of course nothing will ever get DONE FOR RON PAUL, but then that doesn't seem to MATTER!!!!!!!

No one was told to moderate differently. Nothing has changed. There is no "new system" in place.

Please keep your head on your shoulders and read what has been posted.

We are asking for input but will most likely be leaving things the way they were.

Heres my thoughts

Let people have free will no more organization. if people hate the thread it will eventually get buried anyway.

nuff said back to the revolution!

I really think there should be no discussion for conspiracies or inside job stuff. Let's focus on the campaign

Define conspiracy and whats not. NAU is considered to be a conspiracy for some, and reality for most who took at least a cursory glance at the evidence. Its also discussed openly by RP, and ranks top at the list for concerns with Americans today. Why censor a national issue that can covert many people over to us. If your talking only about 911 stuff, I agree it should be discussed in hot topics, but not banned. It seems like it is under control, where it is not in anyone's face anymore.

This forum up until today has been really friendly and has delivered very impressive results. Lets look at why?

The answer: Because supporters of Ron Paul could come to one place and interact with other supporters of Ron Paul, and receive quick and useful feedback. This was done under the banner of the "news" forum where there were generally 100-200 people at a time. Because of the number of people things got done.

Now look what is going on now: You have sent people's threads to the four corners of the earth, never to be found by the people coming to the forum. This is going to discourage people like you have never seen. This forum was awesome because if someone had an idea they could post it, if the idea was silly people would constructively tell them why and the post would fade to the back pages, but if the idea was good, 100 people would run with it and it would be accomplished. Now through the idea of "enforcement" people's ideas are being buried. What motivation is anyone going to have to come here and post their idea if it is never going to be read? Or if it is going to be forcefully moved to another area?

This is definitely a private forum. But that doesn't mean that enforcement against the majority of the posters is going to be productive. This forum will just fade. People will stop posting their ideas because no one is going to read them anyways.

Holy Crap, look what we did in Spartanburg and Ames. This mass moving is going to kill this type of creativity.

Please don't let the type of actions that foo did today continue or this forum will die.

How can you seriously say this Josh.

Normally one or two threads would be moved that were sent to hot topics because that is were they belonged.

Today Foo move the overwhelming majority of threads out of the "news" section. When I looked at the page it had about 4 active threads and about 10 moved threads. This has never happened before. Threads about organizing donations for rallys and question about RP stances were moved and this has never happened before.

How can you say things are the same when you have over half of your active members complaining and upset.

I never have complained about a mod on a message board before in my life. But what happened today, in my opinion was either a power grab or not well considered. This is the most destructive thing that has happened to this message board in the two months I have been posting. :(

Please explain.

Also is it not concerning that after Foo coupe, that your forum went from 126 members to 70 members signed on?

A few things to note- first I put this list together a good while back so it doesn't best reflect the current state of affairs. Many of the sub-forums listed are more intended to be repositories of information rather than topics that are to see pages and pages of posts- these include:

Campaign Material
Online Campaign Material
Resource Exchange (a new concept with potential good value to the campaign)
Strategies for Success - just lists of ideas
Action Reports - archive of what people have done
Ron Paul Media Matters
Issues for America (OK, this can get a lot of posts)

These are all things that guests could find collections of useful information without searching. Campaign material is a great example, it's easy to use and find all kinds of great items without searching, or missing anything.

I only see the need for one to three discussion sub-forums, those listed are:

Ron Paul News & Discussion
General Politics & Other
Campaign Projects - this is basically a collection of all the other near dead sub-forums that were added at the request of a third party organizer that were never used.

More later...
