Is there any info out there that shows exactly in detail what the standard military attire is? Any info on this would be great. Not sure what BDU's etc.. to get. Thanks guys.

I'm not joining the military.
Well, just make sure you get the ones needed in the area you are expecting to use them in.
Desert camo isn't the best in the woods.![]()

Did you get the info you needed rpfreedom?
Yeah, but the ACU is also something of a failure as a camouflage. SF tested it in a wooded setting, hiding from instructors, but were spotted every time. I think the Marine pattern is superior, despite Marines' not being superior themselves.
The first time I saw their new uniform I was in Airborne School. The guy was standing next to some grass by some barracks. The digital pattern played tricks on my eyes, as though I was looking at moving static, very weird. I can say ACUs beat the shit out of starching and pressing BDUs every day and shining boots for no reason (since you immediately get gravel and Fort Bragg clay on them).
To the original poster, look up UnderArmor military or something. They have the brown undershirts with the bonus of sweat wicking. They're superior to the cheapie Fruit of the Loom undershirts.
ACU's were made to break up digital imagery of the soldier's. If you look at them in thermals they look like a bunch of heads and hands. Kind of pointless since insurgents don't have any night vision or thermal capabilities.
Are you talking about the DCU's used in Desert Storm?
Is that why every time we take a hill, give it to the Army to hold it, they lose it, so we have to go back in and take it for them again, and give it back for them to 'hold' again? And is that also why we are always able to do the same jobs with less bullets, less food, and less men? Hmmmmm???
Heck, even with all the intra-service rivalry (the kind of brotherly love that sometimes devolves into fistfights) an Army Spec Forces SgtMajor friend of mine said that his only real complaint against the Marines is they have no real spec ops group (currently changing that), but he also said Marines are just about all crack shots from the Generals all the way down to the cooks.
Definitely get the UA shirts. 1000% superior.
And yes, if you want more effective digital camouflage, MARPATs work a lot better than the ACU pattern, and MARPATs are available in Woodland, Desert, and (sort of available in) Urban. You just have to be a little careful in that one of the aftermarket producers of urban pattern utilities tends to fade pretty quickly with washing.
Don't start with me on Army vs Marines. My statement didn't disparage Marines, it merely disspelled MC claims of superiority. I didn't assert Army superiority, but if I felt like it...
