While there will be snow where Ron will be the severe ice storm in the SE part of the state will miss his events and hopefully will not impact or cancel the debate in Des Moines on Wednesday.

This is what the SE part of the state will be receiving. Scary, life threatening stuff. All Ron Paul folks in the SE part of the state should prepare for this event - transient people should shift to Des Moines - NOW.

The democrats had a debate in Iowa during a snow storm and it was never cancelled. Joe Biden was late and Mike Gravel couldn't make it do to the weather, but the event still went on. I don't think they would cancel this event so late in the game, unless the weather was extremely dangerous.

There are folks from the UP of Michigan going. They know how to handle winter.

ice storms aren't winter, they are pure evil

you don't handle ice though. The flatest parking lot becomes a death trap in an ice storm.

It sucks that this is coming to my area again. We had an ice storm last February that caused me to lose power for 9 days. I then learned my storm coverage insurance didn't apply because the loss of power wasn't a result of anything on my property.

Nothing worse then having to go chip a hole in the ice on the lake just to draw renough water to flush a toilet. I don't know how our made it year in and year out.

I will say though - it isn't good news that Dr. Paul continues to ignore the Eastern (and more populous) portion of the state.

We had a WICKED ice storm last year on Dec 1st and the whole city was out of power for 7-10 days. I hope this one doesnt compare to that.

That sucked HARD. I had to warm up water on the stove every 5 hrs to pour in my Oscar tank to keep the poor fella from freezing to death in the 5 degree temps.

Why is the campaign ignoring eastern Iowa??

Dr. Paul can't be everywhere. This is very much a national campaign and the campaign is correct in thinking the central part of the state particpates in the caucus at a higher rate then other areas.

I was hoping after the straw poll they would have a little bigger picture, but I guess not. Our meetups are doing some good work though, but our media has ignored us and the campaign and will continue to do so unless he visits.

Ron Paul will be at the debate on Wednesday. Should be a good one! It's kind of at a weird time, so hopefully they replay it in the evening so Iowa folks at work can actually see it! Maybe Ron Paul is focusing on western/central Iowa because that's where a lot of Republicans are. Eastern Iowa I believe is more liberal, but I'm sure he'll be back through there before the caucus.

Iowa is awesome.

Look, I live in a 2,000 square foot home. I have a 4 acre lake and another 2 acres of land.

I live 15 miles away from a large city, and it takes me 15 minutes to get to work. I know some coastal people are reading that and thinking "damn!"

I will own my home, land, and lake outright in a short 7 more years. If I want big city living - Chicago is 2.5 hours away.

We don't have earthquakes. We don't have Hurricanes. Crime is pretty low. The winters aren't even as bad as they were when I was young.

I have lived plenty of other places but chose to come back to Iowa. Heck, you can even get a decent education out of public schools here.
