Ron Paul Pro Life!

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I couldn't support for anyone if they weren't pro-life. To me it's like casting a vote to allow murder.

This is probably the best reply, thanks :) I am now clarified and we can move on to getting him more support and donations....

High-quality contraception and good nutrition are widely available here, unlike in the Romania you remember.

Presidents can't overturn a supreme court decision.
No, but they can appoint pro-life SC judges.

I still support Paul because I know he wouldn't make sweeping federal legislation based on personal moral beliefs and know he dislikes "activist judges", but it's still an issue I strongly disagree with him on.

Last i checked, murder is most definitely an issue that was outlawed on a national basis...

o wait, this is murder of a baby, so i guess thats seen differently *rolls eyes*

i guess killing a baby is ok if the girl who got herself pregnant (dont worry, i am sympathetic to rape cases) decides she doesnt want to use the gift of sex to bring life into this world...so lets just kill the baby...or the cases when the woman who gets pregnant decides to kill her baby so she wont look bad in a bathing suit for the summer......what has this world come to?

Actually this is not true. Murder has never been outlawed on a national basis. Murder, and other forms of violence, are legislated by the states, as abortion would be under a Ron Paul administration. California will always have legal abortion. Iowa I'm sure won't.

The good news for pro choice people is that Ron Paul is against laws that would prevent women from crossing state lines to get an abortion. So, if you get pregnant in a anti-abortion state you don't have to bust out the ol' coat hanger. You can go to an abortion-friendly state to get the job done.

Abortion has been legal for a long time in this country, as it is in most other industrialized nations. Pro choice people have nothing to fear. The chances of abortion ever being banned in the United States again are very slim. George W. Bush has been president for 8 years and he wants to ban abortion, but hasn't been able to. Ron Paul doesn't even want to. Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to.

His (or her) first post, and he's correcting someone's grammar?

And to top it off, the post being criticized was grammatically correct!

:(

Ambigous here I would say.

If the context were clearer, it would be without reproach.

For nearly all of the history of the US, murder was a crime at the state level, not federal. It largely still is. The states also defined murder.

Abortion is a difficult issue that will have many different opinions that vary somewhat. Difficult issues are best when decided at a more local level. In really difficult decisions, it would be even more local with a jury deciding. Disagree with the law? Read about jury nullification. Ron Paul has written in defense of it. A jury can refuse to convict on a bad law.

I hope this forum can be used to explain issues to new people and those who just haven't really considered some points of view. It shouldn't be about intellectual masturbation. Let's not turn it into a cult with only certain views allowed to be expressed.

Isn't this a R3VOLution of ideas where we are trying to change people's thinking?
