Restore America Plan Just Released!

"On day one of my presidency, I will shut down the government entirely!"

Goodness people. The statists took 100 years to get us into this mess, do you think we're going to get out in 1?

I tried to warn many RP faithful that what he advocates is not going to happen over night. RP himself said his ideas will require a transition stage.

RP's plan is a good start especially getting federal spending from 24% of GDP down to 16%. He does it in only 3 years unlike current plans that go way out into 10 years which are completely bogus projections.

I'm not trolling, I was legitimately hoping for a libertarian presidency. I'm still for Ron.

4 years is a very short time to change everything Ron wants to change. This is a good plan. End of story.

The best part about this plan? Everywhere on Twitter, it's being called "The Ron Paul Plan". His name recognition will be at 90% very soon. If everyone was talking about 9-9-9, you know people are going to be saying things like "Didja hear about the Ron Paul plan to cut a trillion dollars?".

It is a good plan but it's a compromised plan and not even addressing the income tax is, and should be for all of you, a big deal. You question as little as the 'sheeple' you guys talk about.

I'm surprised that the plan doesn't mention the income tax when Ron has said many many times and even on his campaign site that he'd like to get rid of it.

If I had one question about this plan it would be about that.

I know its radical but I think he should include it in his plan to get rid of it.
Would blow 9-9-9 out of the water IMO.

it does something that no other candidate has proposed and in very precise detail.

There's a difference in being skeptical and being realistic. Ron can't end the income tax on his own. I imagine that would take a long time to do.

I'm just not as concerned about income tax as the other parts of Ron's platform that the plan is addressing. That's personal. If you believe it to be a big issue, you are completely entitled to that. I just don't want Ron to lose votes for this.

This plan can be enacted, the income tax, approved under such circumstances as it was, is a Constitutional amendment, therefore erquiring a Constitutional amendment to repeal. Ron Paul cannot say for certain this will be done. He can say for certain the things in this plan will be done, period. Doubting that he will push to eliminate the income tax and IRS is akin to saying the man has been lying for 30+ years.

Because that's such a huge voting bloc in the GOP primaries.

lol we are trying to turn dems in to reps... the unions would be an easy place to start..

edit, oh and like he would change the plan for the general...

Phasing out the IRS

In a 2008 debate, Ron was asked if he would begin phasing out the IRS. His answer was "immediately".

I believe that this plan does that. We HAVE to cut spending BEFORE we can talk about eliminating the income tax. I have heard Ron say many times that "first you have to cut spending".

You all believed in Ron for so long, and many of you would only support him this go around if he was "in it to win it".

This is him being "in it to win it". Be glad, he just raised his chances of being elected.

Since congress will not legislate these departments out of existence anytime soon, what's the plan to make this budget happen?

I just read the plan.

No where in the plan does it call for the income tax to be abolished, phased out, or even reduced by 1%.

This is a nightmare!

Please tell me this is not happening!

You can't abolish the income tax without cutting spending to Constitutional levels. We can't cut spending to Constitutional levels overnight. Even this plan is just symbolic. It would never be enacted by Congress. But it would be ridiculous for ███ to release a plan to abolish the income tax when spending can't be cut enough to make up for all the lost revenue.

I like the fact that ███'s plan ends the war spending and abolishes foreign aid without actually cutting legitimate defense spending. There were some people here who were claiming that ███ supported cutting defense spending by 50-75%, and I was afraid that they were correct. I love ███'s new plan.
