Restore America Plan Just Released!

No he doesn't address the income tax in a whole term. If he isn't a 2-termer then we get nothing done with the income tax.

Angry.
The President has no say in eliminating the income tax - only a Constitutional Amendment to repeal the 16th can accomplish this. In Texas Congressional Dist 14, I'm campaigning to introduce, to Congress, an amendment to do so.

Since congress will not legislate these departments out of existence anytime soon, what's the plan to make this budget happen?
If elected in TX Congressional District 14 I will be working with congressional allies to implement these cuts.

I agree that this is a more reasonable plan that will be accomplished by the end of the second term if he is elected two terms. Eliminating the income tax will be a tremendous uphill fight, and the best you can hope for is keeping it at bay right now. However, remember the two big issues that people should support him on: audit the Federal reserve (and giving the veto on the renewal of its charter), and getting out of all the empire building. If he can accomplish that, and keep the federal government from growing, and accomplish what can be reasonably done in this plan with Congress, than a greater stride has been made in terms of liberty and prosperity than any president has accomplished since Harding and Coolidge. I just want all the wars to end.

Your focus is wrong - in the famous words which killed a presidential re-election : "It's the economy, stupid". The priorities for the next president, and congress, will be to stabilize entitlements, bring the deficit down and get Americans back to working. I've been fighting our fight as long as R.P. - 30 years - and experience has taught me that, for the most part, American could care less about political philosophy; they are only concerned about their well being. Our focus must be on restoring prosperity back to America, but we do so by implementing our ideas on government. And doing this, we must produce results quickly, or we will be as lamed ducked dead as Obama, and this would set our aspirations, for a renewal of freedom, back for decades. To address your concern on "wars", military spending is the only part of government which can immediately produce $500 billion in cuts and must be an integral part of any economic plan, but its focus is only secondary.

It is a good plan but it's a compromised plan and not even addressing the income tax is, and should be for all of you, a big deal. You question as little as the 'sheeple' you guys talk about.
This is an economic plan for POTUS not a speech at supporters' rally so please be realistic.

I've been reading comments on some of the stories, and people are already slamming this plan. People are bringing up that this will equate cuts during a recession and increase unemployment by a large percent.

The President has no say in eliminating the income tax - only a Constitutional Amendment to repeal the 14th can accomplish this. In Texas Congressional Dist 14, I'm campaigning to introduce, to Congress, an amendment to do so.
16th Amendment: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

This amendment gives Congress the ability to enact laws to lay/collect income taxes, but it does not require that Congress do so. Elimination of income tax could be done simply by repealing the relevant laws, not the amendment itself.

The difficulty that the amendment introduces is that an executive could not simply refuse to implement the law on the ground that the law is unconstitutional. (Unless the executive could convincingly argue that the amendment was misinterpreted by Congress when passing the law.) Congress would still be required to cooperate in order to get rid of the income tax. It just wouldn't have to go through the crazy tough requirements of passing amendments.

I listened to the speech and he said not one penny from veterans (good) and not one penny from defense and militarism (?!). Can anyone explain what he meant?

Watch it again and listen. He said not one penny from defense. The militarism is going to be gutted under his plan, however, we will be at 2008 levels before the war monger obama increased troop levels.

I'm sorry, is he saying some DOD spending isn't defense spending? I mean I agree, but it seems to be a complicated way to make the point...

The format was a little weird too. With all the people clapping and cheering, it felt more like a rally than a press conference.

It doesn't actually reduce spending. It simply slows the increase. It manages to shrink the size of government while still increasing spending. I guess its better than what we have or will have from anyone else. You have to start somewhere.

after reading every line of it... i see it as something that wouldn't have to be trimmed down much in order to pass. It seems like it is realistic and do-able. once elected and the nation sees how awesome it is.. then he can put more cuts and the other stuff we agree with into the works :D

tough to turn around such a massive ship :D

Ron will lose the Union vote.
How can he lose it? He never had it. It may, however, encourage support from the jobless poor who are shut out of the unions. Unfortunately I don't think that many of them are sophisticated enough to understand how they are getting screwed.

Hasn't the Supreme Court said the 16th amendment was never actually ratified by the sufficient number of states? The office the president has the power to investigate the truth about the income tax.
