Report shows Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world

I find it very hard to believe that Christianity is being persecuted more than Islam, in todays world.

That's funny. I don't feel persecuted at all. I haven't received a single threatening letter from the "Prayer Police", or had them bust in my door for fear that I was practicing an unlawful belief system. I became an ordained minister a couple years ago, which, if Christians were in fact being persecuted, could have resulted in my incarceration and/or murder. In fact, it's hard for me to imagine feeling less inhibited from practicing freedom of thought, worship, and conscience.

I've never been accused of terrorism (by anyone other than Janet Napolitano), and nobody has ever told me that, because of the heinous acts of others who claimed to believe in my God, I shouldn't be allowed to establish a Christian service anywhere in the country. Now that would be persecution. If some bureaucrat or city planner came up to me and said, "your kind killed George Tiller, so you can't build a church within five-hundred yards of an abortion clinic", I think I'd be pretty PO'ed. But miraculously, that's never come up.

If you want to talk persecution, I urge you to consider the plight of Muslims in this country, who are regularly profiled, scrutinized, and vilified in the media for a terrorist attack they had nothing to do with. Revoltingly, it is even assumed by many that the government can use the September 11th tragedy as a pretext for stripping Muslims of their freedom of association and of private property. The average Muslim deals with more misdirected hatred and irrational fear in one week than I have in an entire lifetime.

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father." (John 15:18-24)

So what? Christians can't be objective? Is there another report showing that it is not true?

Try being a Christian in the Middle East or Pakistan or China.

Yeah that's a lot of hype. While Islamophobia is despicable it's nothing compared to discrimination against Christians all over the globe.

Lol

I would say there are several religions that are more highly persecuted:

Rastafarianism - Illegal in most countries

Native American Church - illegal in most countries and legal in this country only if you are an Indian

Sacramental use of the psilocybe mushroom, a religion far older than Christianity, illegal in most countries

Oh, and Christians really led the way in persecuting these religions, along with virtually extirpating pre-Christian shamanistic religions, kidnapping the children of native practioners, indoctrinating them in "schools" and essentially forcing them to become Christians.

Just ask an American Indian about religious persecution.

So I guess you reap what you sow.

????

You can be a Muslim in countries where Christianity is a majority but you can't be Christian in many Muslim countries.

Psalm 10
A Song of Confidence in God’s Triumph over Evil

Why do You stand afar off, O LORD?
Why do You hide in times of trouble?
The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;
Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD.
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.

His ways are always prospering;
Your judgments are far above, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.”
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression;
Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.

He sits in the lurking places of the villages;
In the secret places he murders the innocent;
His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.
He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den;
He lies in wait to catch the poor;
He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.
So he crouches, he lies low,
That the helpless may fall by his strength.
He has said in his heart,
“God has forgotten;
He hides His face;
He will never see.”

Arise, O LORD!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.
Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.”

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

The LORD is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

All you have to do is look at the bombing of the Iraqi Cathedral last month where 50+ were martyred.

Chrisitians living in Muslim countries are heavily discriminated against and are under a constant threat of violence.

China, Vietnam, and other communist countries have been extremely heavy handed in dealing with Chrisitianity, especially Catholics.

Because of the size of Chrisitianity this doesn't really surprise me. To those of you citing the wars, we all know that those are fought for economic rather than religious reasons, and so those would not fall into this survey.
