King is pretty neocon'ish
Well, he's out. Good.
Liberty type candidates: Drew Ivers, David Fischer, AJ Spiker, or Mark Chelgren.
I talked to Chelgren at the fair a year or two ago. It was before he was elected. I really liked his views on everything except the war. As he pointed out to me then, that doesn't matter at the state level. I haven't visited with him much since, well, the caucus probably. I'd be interested in his current views. I do like Chelgren.
War is a pretty enormous issue given the amount of money it costs to maintain all of these perpetual wars. That's kind of like saying that a certain person is a really nice guy, except that he happens to be a serial killer.
We know some of these guys but does the state of Iowa? I don't know if they could win a statewide race.Well, he's out. Good.

King is pretty bad on a lot of issues, particularly foreign policy. I think he was the only member of Congress to vote against ruling out sending ground troops into Libya.

House Republicans voted unanimously against sending troops into Libya.
Are you sure that wasn't simply a procedural vote? I don't think all of those Democrats actually supported ground troops in Libya.
This is the actual vote. Three Democrats and two Republicans voted "no," including King. Ironically, Rohrabacher voted against it, who's normally pretty good.

It's walking a tightrope though because catering too much to social cons at some point loses you independents in the general election. I'd hate running for office in Iowa.Drew Ivers is the one we need! The reason for this is his strong ties to the religious groups. It is impossible to win an election in IA without being able to get the religious vote. This is why candidates like the huckster, santorum, and bachmann are convinced to run, their purpose is only to split the religious vote off from supporting a good candidiate. The same strategy will be used against Rand in 2016. Drew Ivers in the Senate would be an excellent way to defuse this strategy, since he could not only pull the religious vote for his own election, but his endorsement (as a Senator) of Rand would carry a lot of weight with the religious voters that Rand would need to win. For those of you who do not know who Drew Ivers is, he was one of the higher-ups in Ron's IA campaign organizations, so there is no question that he would be a solid liberty candidate.
