Rand Paul can’t believe he’s losing to this guy: ‘This whole thing with Trump is insane’

I
The immigration debate is over. Immigration is a local question as much as it is a national one. It would take a brave man to say this but I don't have such high expectations for Rand.

The time to have dealt with this question was back in the early 1990s without any effects on demographics. Today? Forget about it. Even if you stopped every illegal immigrant from coming in you still haven't dealt with all the legal immigrants who come to the U.S. every year. You don't think that has an affect on the demographics?

As Patton would say, fixed fortifications a testament to man's stupidity. You walls aren't going to stop illegal immigration any more than the Maginot Line stopped the Germans. By all means beef up security at the border if it makes you feel better but be realistic to know if humans can breach mountains or go to the moon, they can get past your wall.

Scream all you want about "sanctuary cities", people will still go out of their way to hide illegals. For every Sheriff Joe who enforces immigration laws, there are hundreds of sheriffs around the country who look the other way because they don't want to offend some politically powerful grower or farmer or food processing company whose plants employs illegals.

You're the same people who screamed about 18 percent inflation back in 1980 and you got rid of Jimmy Carter for it. Fine then. You got Ronald Reagan and you got amnesty. Don't give me this "he later regretted it" crap. You want cheap food, cheap houses, cheap everything, well, how do you think you get it? By employing cheap labor. Period. You reap what you sow.

If I were Rand I would pretty much say since we can't come to a consensus on immigration and the laws are almost useless because "selective enforcement", every community is pretty much on their own when it comes to immigration. You want to crack down, crack down by all means. But just because you do you have to accept the fact others will not. But that's your creation because you can't make up your minds and thus the politicians can't either. So there it is.

How many made it from East Germany to West Gemany when there was a barrier?

Tomorrow is one week since Trump got on CBS and blathered at length about the 'big beautiful door' he's going to put in his wall, so after we go to all the trouble and expense of kicking them all out, he can let them right back in. So, who would be calling Rand Paul out again? The same people who are giving Trump a pass on doing a compete 180 just like every other phony?

Maybe. But only if Fox and msnbc tell them to.

The big beautiful door was a reference to the legal immigration system which as it stands has 7% nation state quota caps plus Trump's plan would presumably lower the overall legal immigration quotas as well. So it is going to take many, many decades for those people to get through that door, even if they were the only ones from Mexico that wanted to use it and a good percentage of them would die in the meantime. Overall, a very reasonable approach.

You presume, we do not. And the reasonable response to this aggravation in the electorate is to stop paying illegals for crashing the party, and give us the freedom to start small businesses and fix the economy. The Trump Roundup is just another way to drive up the debt. It could never remove them faster than they come back across, wall or no, if we're still paying them to come here.

Where are these single-issue immigration voters? I've never met one in real life. This must be something mainly in the Southwest because I haven't seen these people in the South or the Midwest. Sure, a lot of people here are strongly opposed to illegal immigration, but they are more concerned with the economy or planned parenthood or guns.

The issues are all interrelated- they are all about the elites' war on the American People. But since immigration is the simplest and most obvious, it has become the rallying cry. The immigration issues itself is important, but what it represents is even more important.

Care to explain further?

Wake up and smell the coffee, dumbass.

100% of new jobs in the United States over a 14-year period went to immigrants, legal and illegal.

False.

But please, do go on about about needing to educate myself.

Alot of these jobs are high skill jobs by legal immigrants too--I fail to see a problem with people coming to our country, following the law and becoming great Americans.

Paul, ... criticized Trump’s insulting remarks about immigrants during a brief interview with The Seattle Times

Seattle Times has no direct quote from Rand backing this interpretation of his remarks. They have a direct quote from Rand -- "“I think it’s hard to have a serious discussion when you have a reality TV star in the mix. A lot of it becomes about celebrity and not about substance,” Paul said."

But nothing from Rand saying that Trump's remarks about illegal aliens are "insulting" or "disparaging." More leftist media spin, or likely just a lie.

Could he be more specific and tell us exactly what Trump said about immigrants that he disagrees with? Rand is sounding very vague here, something he accuses Trump of doing a lot.

No, he can't be more specific. The Raw Story writer just rewrote a story from the Seattle Times that was just as unspecific and in fact, probably total bullshit.

No, he didn't. That is a lie by the Communist media. You should really stop spreading the lies of the Communist media as though they were facts. You are what the Communists call one of their "useful idiots."

Hope this helps.

That wasn't just a barrier. They killed people in order to stop them from crossing it. Armed guards were severely punished if people successfully crossed under their watch. There were also dogs and beds of nails.

It's also the perfect example of the barrier being used to keep the East Germans in as much as keeping foreigners out.

Rand should probably do more to point out how Trump is emulating East Germany in his immigration stances.

What lie am I spreading? Notice the question mark right in your quote. That line came right from the OP and I was asking about it.

They're buying into all the fantasies Trump is selling because he knows it is winning him votes. They're going to be let down again and it's going to be big time. I don't blame them though, because it’s not like everyone else has let them down too or seem like just another politician (Rand included). I can see the appeal Trump has to them. I read the New Yorker article about the guy in New Hampshire who use to make electrical devices for GE and now is parking cars at a hospital. That's got to be humiliating to see his job get shipped to Mexico. I can see where an Iraq vet would feel a tug when Trump we don’t win anything anymore. It’s potent stuff. Watch the movie Gran Torino to learn more and understand.

Yeaw I was going to say great example. Let's immolate the East german government to control people. Concertina wire, floodlights, with a open space for clear fields of fire for the automatic weapons bunkers every couple of hundred yard. Yes sir we will stop them Taco eaters!

I'm curious where the line item is in the budget for "illegal aliens"? I mean, isn't it amazing we have a whole class of people who can be deported if they get arrested and yet if they don't get caught are entitled to billions of free government benefits? And to think it has passed all the Republican Congresses over the past 20 years!

Rand is suffering he won't indulge in Trump's fantasy program. He understands where the country is really going and simply wants to shift the party it towards reality. I appreciate the fact he hasn't pandered and I think it will benefit him in the long run. Just not now.

Yeah, our jobs are being shipped to Mexico and Mexico's welfare recipients are being shipped to the U.S. I saw Gran Torino. It was a good movie.

They don't get deported. Illegals are catch and release. Holder/Obama created that program.
