Rand Paul Campaign Manager Signs Up With Marco Rubio

Englander did a great job in Illinois, a very hard state to win as a Republican, that's why Rand picked him. It's a job, it's what he does, but I'm not sure it will help in anyway, Rubio is done...this is full blown Trump. It's the Bubba Trump voter and they are pissed, wish Rand could have picked up on it early...it's the economy stupid...yes the spying and war stuff is important and of course the Fed, but when it comes down to it, it was letting in millions of illegals, watching their jobs leave, their incomes drop. Trump is getting those voters.

All you really have to do to get those voters is "boogity boogity sharia law", they will come running. Glenn Beck did it in 2012 for Santorum and then for Mitt, now he is crying about the trump doing the same thing.

I'll agree with both posts . . .
the campaign held back grassroots some I think in some ways, and letting Fox mess with us . . .but all part of the plan ?

Ok, please explain to me how the campaign held back the grassroots. Details please, I don't recall them doing anything to hold us back.

This campaign actually listened more to the grassroots than the 2012 campaign. Sometimes, they even implemented their ideas. They did have a bad habit though, of launching their own fundraisers a week before promoted moneybombs started.

They did not implement this grassroot's ideas offered on Dec 26th:

There will be at least 10 points jump in Rand's support among GOP voters if he makes all following statements within 2 weeks period in a debate, on national TV or on Twitter.
Results guaranteed.

1- "Barack Hussain Obama is a puppet of war lobbies that instigated mideast destabilization and civil wars blood baths from Syria to Libya to Iraq".

2- "Morally Bankrupt democrats call Bush war criminal but not Obama".

3- "This is a very incompetent President. While national debt piled up, mideast slipped into bloodbath of Jihadists and Talibans increased their gains, Barack Hussein Obama last year spent more time playing golf than Tiger Woods".

4- "Under Obama, Black people have lost ground in every single leading economic category."

5- "Majority of Americans see this Nobel Peace Prize winner dronegangsta President as dishonest and untrustworthy".

Yeah, I won't support a candidate who ran on that garbage. Obama is not running in 2016.

I don't agree with that approach.

I was part of a paid staff on a presidential campaign. There is no way I would work for a Presidential candidate who stood against nearly everything I believe is best for the country.

I think this type "job" is different. It "should" require at least some type of commitment to principles.

Just my opinion...

I tend to agree.

Englander was not hired by Rubio for sage campaign or policy advise. Rubio was buying connections. It's like the revolving door between government and corporations, but in this case, it's another politician looking to gain those advantages.

It's not meant to directly influence voters. It's meant to gain access to higher level connections of all kinds. Like minded people, who have more of a monetary motivation than a strict ideological stance. Their influence then may trickle down to actual voters.

Agree, they were starting to build out in SC, Chip gives him access to some of that.

I'm only 5 posts in, but that's what I was going to say. This is a job to campaign managers; nothing more.

And that is why electoral politics at the federal level is a losing proposition, unless candidates are willing to take chances with staff that is outside-the-beltway. Otherwise it's just more of the same 'big club' playing musical chairs.

People need jobs folks. There aren't that many libertarian candidates to work for. Give them a break.

also, this reminds me of when people freak out when their favorite player or coach goes and signs a big contract with a rival team "They werent really about my team anyhow" lol

People dinged Ron for being too family oriented, Rand for having professionals. What do you guys want? It's tough. Rand had family associates and new people brought in. It was a professional campaign. Results do not always reflect the quality of the campaign, especially in this climate.
