We got the state sovereignty movement going with all of those states that declared it in the last year or two. If the health care mandates pass, is it time to show teeth behind the declarations? Is it time to call our state congresspeople and ask them to put forth a resolution to secede from the union for real? I don't think the federal government got the message yet.

The real key to this actually working would probably start with state legislatures moving toward a financial secession... which would be difficult considering that would mean declining federal funding even while it would mean a huge reduction in federal taxation (which could easily be replaced by state taxes). Once they do that it is fairly easy to simply ignore most federal actions on a state level and denying access to federal law enforcement as well as opting out of all other federal programs :)

State gov't is even worse than federal. Local is fairly relaxed. Secession movement would drain resources and result in a worse... result... for me, anyway. Bill of Rights does an acceptable job holding up against the pressure of the majority of the nation. I'd consider secession considerable if the Feds ever start performing live vivisections without anesthesia on political dissidents.

So your line in the sand is whether or not they use anesthesia?

People this isn't 1861, people aren't going to get off the couch and risk their lives or something over anything the federal government in this country does any longer.

Secession is a dumb idea anyway.

Well, if they'd euthanize me prior to the vivisection like ethical human beings, anesthesia wouldn't even be necessary.

Secession should have been pushed decades ago. The New Deal, the Patriot Act, the Vietnam War, the Iraq occupation were all good reasons for secession. This health care crap is nothing compared to what the government has done.

How could anybody not be for secession? I don't get it. Who are you invisible people who voted for choices 3 and 4 and why?

Why is breaking with the federal government stupid? The majority here believe it's a good idea. Enlighten us.

You want to pick up a gun and start shooting people? Wanna be a hero?

Do you understand the what WAR is? Have you ever been a real soldier in a real war? Rebellion and secession are beautiful words, but that is where their beauty ends......

The Federal Reserve Act would have been a good enough reason...

I don't like to think of how history would paint a secession over Health Care.

The poll isn't about a war. It's about secession.
