Puerto Rico Results Thread

In order to vote in the GOP presidential primary in Puerto Rico, voters must sign a "Republican Party of Puerto Rico Affiliation Form" pledging commitment to the ideological principles of the Party. -- CNN

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!! "Ideological principles"!! This is the best joke of the day.

lol yeah i agree what a joke.

You still have not explained why on earth you thought Ron would win Puerto Rico, and how his poor (and expectedly so) showing there is evidence of fraud, or even what kind of fraud you are accusing people of.

See the Ron Paul Runs, Ron Paul Wins thread.

Honestly, it looks like people in Puerto Rico have only heard of Romney and Santorum, and the rest of the people are just voting randomly between the remaining candidates (Gingrich, Paul, Roemer, and Karger all have 1-2% - seems kinda just like a random spattering of noise down there.)

Let's not lose site of what we are doing please...delegates delegates delegates ... Absolutely no reason to be upset with the results of puerto Rico...

Ron Paul only has 19 delegates and alternates in PR. Other candidate filed full slates and alternates.

They rarely competed outside of New Hampshire. Fred Karger is a businessman or something from CA, I think. His major issue is giving gays equal or extra rights. Buddy Roemer is a formerly very successful politician from LA. He moved to Manchester, NH to run for the Republican nomination. He campaigned harder in NH than most of the people you have heard of. He was in a debate in NH but didn't amount to much.

I don't think Buddy Roemer got in any of the televised debates. GaryJ did get in one. Buddy Roemer was the Governor, as well as a 4 term US Congressman.

Buddy never made it into the debates. He more recently dropped out to pursue the Americans Elect nomination, and to date he meets their qualifications the closest. What makes this more amusing is that Roemer is that makes him an ex-GOP candidate and he still took third.
Buddy Roemer fancied himself the OWS Republican candidate and doesn't take donations over 100 dollars, nor solicits the help of PACs

Karger is a gay Republican who was a campaign staffer for a number of politicians in CA, including for the campaigns of Rockefeller, Nixon, and Reagan. His stances tend to focus on moderation with an emphasis on gay rights.

Another update with 53.8% of the vote in.
If you include the total write-ins, it now goes Romney, Santorum, Others, Roemer, Gingrich, Karger, Paul.

Oh, PR.

Are you joking, or out of your mind? You are saying you are not concerned with Romney pulling all the momentum back into his favor, leading into another sure win on Tuesday? Momentum that will almost certainly carry him through his strong April states to get him more than enough BOUND delegates to win easily when you factor in California and Texas...one of which he will win handily taking almost every delegate, and the other of which he will at least finish a close second taking about half? (And the very real possibility that the April momentum he gains will result in big wins in BOTH those delegate heavy states.

I am not sure how you can see this is no big deal even if it is only a territory and not likely to get much PR. It will carry over to Tuesday, where he is already heavily favored in Illinois. And after that, any momentum that Santorum got from last weekend is gone.

With 68.54% reporting:

Mitt Romney 80,131 83.09%
Rick Santorum 7,521 7.80%
Buddy Roemer 2,191 2.27%
Newt Gingrich 1,889 1.97%
Fred Karger 1,390 1.44%
Ron Paul 1,134 1.18%
Others 2,176 2.26%

Hey. If the USA somehow causes WW3... will Puerto Ricans and Samoans be drafted??? I will be annoyed, since they voted in a war monger but they don't have to risk going to war. Unfortunately, I am of age to be drafted =|. I don't want to go to war for some war mongers and bankers.
