Puerto Rico Results Thread

FRAUD so sickening.

I'm not sure why you would think this is fraud. Did you somehow expect Ron to be doing really well in an area where he has low name recognition, didn't actively campaign, and where Fortuno and his flunkies backed someone else?

The official results page is saying the "other" candidates are also getting votes. Who are these "other" candidates?

They rarely competed outside of New Hampshire. Fred Karger is a businessman or something from CA, I think. His major issue is giving gays equal or extra rights. Buddy Roemer is a formerly very successful politician from LA. He moved to Manchester, NH to run for the Republican nomination. He campaigned harder in NH than most of the people you have heard of. He was in a debate in NH but didn't amount to much.

Ron Paul always wins if the votes were counted correctly and fairly. Remember Ron Paul runs, Ron Paul wins. See all the straw polls. Ron is really winning this primary in popular vote.

Who does Dokes want to win the primary?

Buddy Roemer 41
Fred Karger 38
Ron Paul 22

How are they getting more votes than Ron when the media ignores them even more?

Maybe they organized in RP. Maybe they are better known there? Maybe Ron Paul is hated in RP. It looks like all 3 of them and Gingrich are just getting a few votes. It seems that people don't care about those candidates in PR.

10% reporting, Romney by a landslide 80 some percent. Romney won all the delegates.

Why was turnout so much higher than 2008? 200 voted last time, it looks like 100K will this time.

I would guess it has to do with different issues on the ballot this time, but I'm not sure what it looks like. There may also be more local races represented.

I think Puerto Rico pushed for the population to GOTV in their attempt at statehood.

It was a caucus in 2008.

BTW, did anyone notice how Gingrich suddenly jumped up but Paul stayed at 1%?

Puerto Rico has open primaries. In 08, there was a competitive Democratic primary. This year, there is no competitive Democratic primary so a lot of Independents are voting in the Republican primary.

Not that I expected us to get any, but how do they know Romney gets all the delegates with only 10% reporting?

Interesting that Puerto Rico is a Catholic island, but they rejected Santorum by a wider margin than the Protestant/Baptist southern states rejected Romney.
