EDIT: Trevor Lyman has agreed to not use the mailing list for anything but TeaParty:

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=41254

================================

Due to the campaign e-mail about needing funds now, there has been much talk about how to make the most effective use of and balance between time and money. Several people managed to upset Trevor in recent times (yours truly included), and this period has been stressful and a dilemma for everyone. However, the TeaParty has become something beyond the Ron Paul community. It has been advertised on national television, in national newspapers, to apolitical friends and family, and in general, it should be about one theme and one theme only: donating $100 to Ron Paul on December 16th. After December 16th, fine. But before that, we must stay our ground and make sure no goals are changed in that regard.

To this end, I lay forth a petition to allay once and for all any fears about potential jeopardy of the TeaParty project. The only reason this is targeted towards Trevor is because he has control of the website and mailing list, but I think we should all agree to the following once-implicit, now-explicit stipulation:

From now on, the TeaParty07.com domain name, website, mailing list, and all related material and content should be exclusively reserved to promote a massive donation drive on December the 16th, and under no circumstances be used to advertise any other grassroots effort or fundraiser until after December 16th has passed.

Much like a vote tallying more than 66% of Congress has the power to veto any presidential wish, I think if over 66% of us agree to this proposition, it should be binding to anyone who promotes TeaParty07.com (whether it be Trevor or whomever).

Cheers. :)

EDIT: One other reason for this petition is that we don't want to cause any more division in the community.

Note: I had posted a petition similar to this earlier, but it turns out Trevor had already sent an e-mail. So this is a last attempt.

EDIT2: One last word. Trevor said he received hundreds of e-mails about moving up December 16th. That's still the far minority: hundreds out of tens of thousands is a small percentage. Therefore, I do not think this is an accurate count of the support for an idea.

Unless we get an agreement from him, I won't be sending ANYONE to teaparty07.com. I'll instead just tell them to donate on the 16th and RSVP for the meetup donation drive.

That's why I want to get this going. We need his word that we know what to expect from him (because we certainly didn't expect this). I think everyone will be better for it.

I am so tired of these threads.

Will you please stop this divisive nonsense.

Yes please. You guys are causing problems and you need to stop this. Your personal opinions on this are not worth causing divides between us. I am fairly confident none of you have statistical data to back up your personal opinions as well. If you do have statistical data by all means show the rest of us that you are helping and not hurting.

*sigh*
But I do agree pls don't email people.... this educatingRudy site, let it grow by word of mouth don't use the email list from the teasite to promote it.
also lets consider the Pressure Trevor was put under after the email was sent, It was a mistake by the campaign and Trevor is just looking for a way to appease both sides so lets all give the guy a break

This one doesn't seem so divisive to me...

Is it really so much to ask for assurance that our email addresses, and our friends, families, and neighbors' email addresses are used only for the intended purpose? If I recommend a restaurant to a friend and he goes there and the service and food sucks, I feel responsible and I lose credibility. Same goes for websites. If I ask someone to sign up at the teaparty site, I'm then the one who has to explain and apologize for the spam and unsolicited emails they recieve. And I also then have to explain why it appears that the campaign has their heads up their asses as far as money goes.

No thanks. This thread is a great idea, and deserves a response from Trevor.

Same here. I don't want to send anyone to TeaParty unless I know it's going to be used for TeaParty ONLY. If he is going to continue to use TeaParty.com to promote other fund raisers, that's fine, it's is site. However, I, myself, will stop sending people to it. If he doesn't agree to this, then somebody should just make another site that is dedicated to the TeaParty event ONLY. Even if it doesn't have a subscriber list, it will be a place that we can send people to so that they can watch videos and learn about the money bomb.

I sent 2 people to teaparty today.

Trevor has raised 4.2 million dollars for the campaign.

What have you done?

They've discouraged donations, the worst thing you could possibly do. They have no statistical data to backup their assumptions. They're basing everything off of personal feeling and instead of investigating whether or not it is beneficial to encourage donations while almost no donors are anywhere near maxed out they're causing trouble. Since many people do not understand that the more that is donated now the more we'll get in combination with the next money bomb even they're agreeing with the the original poster. If teaparty07.com is not including an "opt out" solution that is a separate matter.

Arrogance at it's best. Simply amazing.

I have yet to see a single person discourage donations.

We've simply discouraged the Nov 30th "bomb." As most of us have said many times over, if you want to donate today, please do. The more the merrier. But leave Dec 16th alone, and use the TeaParty subscriber list to promote the TeaParty only.

TechnoGuyRob- the ultimate hypocrite!!!

TechnoGuyRob you were the person who made the ThisNovember11th.com campaign which was a divisive campaign against ThisNovember5th.com. So just because you don't like this idea NOW it's "divisiveness" (I don't think it is btw) suddenly matters?

AND you asked me to promote your ThisNovember11th.com campaign with the ThisNovember5th.com mailing list. Why weren't you against using this list when it was about promoting your event?

:D:D:D:p:p:p

HYPOCRITE!!!!!

LOL

and by the way- if you don't want the emails just unsubscribe.

These attack threads are funny. Keep 'em coming techno!! They're good for a laugh!! :P

Let's not make things worse than it is.

But Trevor, I suggested like 10 times in past days not to use teaparty07 mailing-list for non teaparty07 purposes; I don't think you gave a reaction, yet poll results clearly show a vast majority thinks you shouldn't do it. Could you just give a reaction of what your intentions are?

This will surely comfort people.

Note the petition says at the end: "until after December 16th has passed." After the event, anything is fair game, since obviously it can't influence the event itself.

I'm not attacking anybody. :( But if the site advertises it's for a fundraiser on December 16th, and it just says the e-mail will be daily updates about the actual site and fundraiser, it should stay that way. We just want to know what to expect from you, buddy. :(

I'm starting to think there are people who are purposefully trying to piss off Trevor. I believe he is a target of sabotage.

No I think that people are mad that by diluting the december16 with the rudyreading-Thing at the end of the month, is going to weaken the Dec 16 we all want to see the most money raised on the 16, but because of the campaigns email, and them asking for money has forced us (trevor) to come up with a different solution.
