We are fact checking our itinerary for the next 4 days and will put it up tommorow.

In our meeting today we determined today that there is over a 90% chance that the weather will not be good enough to even be in Boston with a blimp on the 15th/16th not to mention fly around. We will have a meeting with the pilot and our meteorologist tommorow to double check the weather. I will also be starting a section on the blog soon explaining the parameters for safe blimp operation.

So, you may ask, if the blimp cannot go to Boston then where will it go? To Columbia, SC. The weather looks good enough to keep the blimp airborne during the day and take media up in the blimp. We plan to broadcast the blimp and the Columbia, SC rally live on the internet and hopefully onto a huge screen in Boston (anyone with big screens in the Boston area let us know). If we can get a screen in Columbia as well then we'll broadcast Boston to Columbia.

Look for more details in the blog tommorow. I will also be adding more footage of the banner application in the next couple of days and we should have pictures of the second banner being installed around this time tommorow.

So... a TeaParty07 South!
If you can't make it to Boston come to Columbia.
Come one come all.
.

Weather is a female dog, isn't she.

Oh well, reality is what it is. Lets keep positive and keep the money rolling!

EDIT
Just looked on weather.com: 70% chance of snow on the 16th, "windy" the 17th.

You made the right call.

someone must have a projector they can plug into a laptop......rent? Boston rental of projector 12 foot wide+

BTW, this is a real pisser, but I for one am at least glad you said so now instead of later...

We just started giving up hope on Boston today. The weather pattern that seems set to slam Boston could have gone either way a day ago. I don't have a lot of know how as far as projectors go. I guess there must be some that are bright enough to work in daylight.

Thanks for the info.

Dont worry about it at all. I just hope they get out there and fly it a bit. We can do publicity for SC just let us know.

BTW I would love some high res pictures with the banner(s) on if someone is out there. Preferably with someone standing near it for perspective.

Yeah, and video of it leaving the hanger

I just think the inaugural launch needs to be before the tea party. If it is on the tea party, that is what the news media will focus on and not the amount of money we raised.

Ooooh, I am sure they will HAVE to report on the amount of money!
PLUS, the launch of the blimp? There is NO way they could NOT plaster it allllll over the airwaves.

THINGS HAPPEN FOR REASONS.
Maybe this is a good thing if it's launched ON the TeaParty date...?

It's a bit short notice but.....

I think the BEST strategy would be along the lines of...

FRI 14th - blimp launch
SAT 15th - rally at the 50 state capitols
SUN 16th - TeaParty moneybomb
MON 17th - Blimp tours DesMoines Iowa

that way, the hits keep coming, and coming.

It's not about 'stealing thunder' from one event, but knowing how to play the media.

I can just see the M$M by Monday, rolling their eyes and saying, "...and Ron Paul is in the news again as the Ron Paul blimp arrived today in DesMoines Iowa..."

Exactly, it's like having two fronts at once in the war on MSM.
Friday morning's launch will get major play on Friday.
Tea Party will get huge press on Monday, with most of the reporting including Boston footage.
The blimp in SC will dominate press within that state, so folks in SC will get inundated with waves of Paul news. And he polls relatively well there (a lot of military).
Yeah, it would be nice if the blimp could make it to Boston for the Tea Party celebration.
But strategically this is a better plan.
Amazing. Amazing.

As long as it can launch Friday morning -- or at least a definitive launch time can be given to the press early enough to get attention. I think the launch would need to take place by noon, though, in order to capitalize on the most exposure.

This would be the best of all remaining options, as it would pique people's attention before they go home and don't watch the news all weekend.

I believe this was known before today.... to keep insisting that it was going to make it up to Boston and now to change at the last minute is very disheartening. Its important to be straight up from the beginning... not toy with our expectations.

And before you guys jump on me, check my posts, I've been pro blimp from the beginning.

This makes me sad and a little angry.

Hooray!

I am delighted to hear that the blimp will be in my hometown (Columbia) on Tea Party day.

I have several connections in the local media, and especially at The State newspaper, where I used to work. I will pull every string I can to make sure that they give this the coverage it deserves, especially in conjunction with the money bomb.

:-) :-) :-)

I can't wait!
