Obama said he would have all troops out of Iraq by today

"Turns out we did it Ron Paul's way anyway, and didn't have to do the Iraq thing to begin with" bump.
That link still says 47,000.
18 days to the 1-year mark.

Someone should weave this thread up into a little "truth hand grenade," and lob it into clumps of internet Obama-ness during 2012.

Marque and Reprisal FTW!

Bring em home now!

Rep-i-ness abounds tonight.

This is like old times.

FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later.

one year, eleven days, and counting.

oh, and we're also past the 60 day limit for the president's war powers act authority to remain in Libya without congressional authorization, bump.

Obama said he would have all troops out of Iraq 16 months after taking office. That is today, yet there are still around 98,000 troops in Iraq.

Wonder how those idiots who gave him a noble "peace" prize feel about him now.

At this point, people should ask themselves some serious questions.
What promise Obama kept on any significant issues?
In all honesty, I can't think of any single promise he kept.
The only promise that he kept was getting the dog for his daughters.
What about us?
What has he done for us?

Obama declassified a lot of Bush's emails that he sealed. He did it immediately after taking office, like literally on 01/21/2009. I am no Obama nut hugger, but declassifying crooked crap that people with too much power send one another adds to govt transparency and that's good. Again, no Obama fan boy but credit must be given when one is due.

Was anyone thrown in jail as a result of the release?

5 soldiers dead in Iraq today bump.

Yeah. But WHO started it, huh? If it weren't for you teabaggers getting Halliburton and Cheney rich, we wouldn't be in this mess! Which Obama is diligently trying to clean up! The repukelicans fucked up so much that Obama can't possibly get everything done just like that--it took them 8 years to destroy us, it'll take 8 years for Obama to clean it up!

GooooooooooooObama!

After fighting for his country, Iraq vet fights for a job
By Rob Hotakainen
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — Eric Smith calls himself one of the lucky ones, returning home from the war in Iraq in 2008 with two arms and two legs.

But his luck has yet to produce a full-time job. In the past year, the 26-year-old Baltimore veteran has found part-time work as a bartender — which paid $4 an hour, plus tips — and as a mail sorter, which paid $8 an hour. And when he was desperate enough for income, he volunteered to be a test patient in a drug study, which earned him $1,200 for a four-night hospital stay.

It's not exactly what Smith had in mind.
