This is the key. Let's assume most of them don't get welfare now. I would also assume most who come here are poor and/or uneducated... which means once they become citizens, they will be on welfare and will vote for politicians and laws that expand government power and socialistic programs.

At one time they provided better quality work at cheaper prices in the construction trade. Specifically, drywall. Not so anymore.

Regardless, most of my family and relatives came to usa legally. Most of them, if not all, are also Democrats who love clintons. I can assure you new citizens are more likely to be democrat. Which means attempts to elect a libertarian leaning conservative Republican like Amash or Massie will be a lot harder.
