NATIONAL USA Today/Gallup Poll: Ron Paul in 3rd place with 14%, Bachmann in 4th with 13%

Do they just toss a random number that is in the 20% range behind Romney's name for these things? I have yet to meet a SINGLE human being that supports this man. Not even the most NeoCon of NeoCons that have met or know... Does anyone know anyone that supports Romney?

I have been thinking the same thing, but I'm afraid that the people who support him are also the ones who actually show up and vote. Probably in the 55 - 70 demographic who base their opinions from what they see on television, if I had to guess.

Nope 44th is correct, a non consective president was counted twice in the early 20th century, i forget the name

Grover Cleveland, though he was actually from the late 19th century(off the top of my head I believe he was president 1884-88 and 1892-96).

Yep, Grover Cleveland was (I think) the 22nd and the 24th President of the US. But Ron Paul, if elected, would become the 45th President of the United States.

To clarify, Ron would be the 44th person taking the office of the Presidency, but he would still be the 45th President.

As if my sleep wasn't shitty enough. Now with the debates, straw poll, and an actual chance to win this. I NEED A SEDATIVE!!!!

This is friggin huge. I can't believe that most of the comments on this thread are about USA Today slighting Ron, and not that he has emerged nationally within 9 points of mittens and third place. 16% in Iowa was great news, but I had wondered how long it would take Ron to poll similar numbers nationally. I just got my answer: NO TIME!

+1. This is what I'd call "striking distance".

Made me smile... Part of me thought that maybe another candidate would steal Dr. Paul's thunder and push him down the polling list, nice to see that part of me is wrong. This may sound wierd, but it is kind of hard to describe my feelings right now. There is REAL hope for America, Ron Paul CAN win!

I know whatcha mean! This could actually happen...

It seems that they've fixed their wording.

In the GOP contest to challenge Obama, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney continues to lead the field, at 24%, but a potential candidate who hasn't entered the race yet is in second place.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is exploring a presidential campaign, ranks behind Romney at 17%. Texas Rep. Ron Paul is third at 14%, followed by Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 13%.

No other contender breaks into double digits.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich is at 7%, businessman Herman Cain 4%, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty 3%, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman 2% and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum 1%.
