[Milei WINS!] Javier Milei, Austrian econ. prof. & ancap, runs for president of Argentina

I mean, he could *probably* send them like a box of .22 rounds and a gift card to Target.

He sold a couple of broken down old helicopters to the U. S. government for way too much money so they could send the things to Ukraine on our dime.

Maybe he can make the same deal for the Zionists. I don't mind if he makes a few politician-like noises, if he can use that to do what he needs to on less taxes from beleaguered Argentines.

To me he's like Travis Kelce. His jab commercials piss me off, but he's in under the salary cap, and my Chiefs were able to spend just enough on all those other important players to maybe win another Bowl.

^^ What the Section 8 folks, and crony companies who rely on government, would do around these parts, rather than to take advantage of the situation, look for and capitalize on reduced regs and opportunities, start a business, and actually grow personal wealth. Which goes to show, no matter where one is in the world, some demand to live of off other's backs.

Hopefully Javier will last long enough after ripping the band aid off for folks to realize what a burden government is/was... unless they choose to never come out of the basement. Indoctrination/brainwashing is a tough thing to cure.

IMF board authorises $4.7 billion for Argentina after Milei's reforms
The International Monetary Fund on Wednesday approved the most recent review of its $44 billion program with Argentina, allowing for the disbursement of $4.7 billion.

The fund said in a statement that even as key program targets were missed through the end of last year "due to severe policy setbacks," it approved waivers of non-observance.

"Program targets were modified, in line with the authorities' initial actions and ambitious plans to bring the program back on track," the fund said.

The board also approved an extension of the program through Dec. 31, 2024, "along with some rephasing of planned disbursements within the existing envelope of the program." The IMF did not supply more details on the changes.

The government and IMF staff recently agreed on the seventh review of the program, which was delayed amid a change of government as President Javier Milei took office on Dec. 10.

"The new administration is taking bold actions to restore macroeconomic stability and begin to address long-standing impediments to growth," said IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in the statement.

She said that "inconsistent policies of the previous government" had left a "difficult inheritance."

Earlier this week the IMF slashed its forecast for Argentina's 2024 GDP to a 2.8% contraction from a previous view of a 2.8% expansion, mostly due to the expected effects of the new government's proposed reforms.

Not one comment about the International Monetary Fund still having their hooks into Argentina w/ loans & their predictions of -2.8 contraction of economy vs initial +2.8% growth?

It’s been a week since I posted this...Can his supporters talk about this?

Been there done that.

He's waving a red flag, all right. He seems to think he's a matador. Whether trolling us, trolling them or both, he's triggering conversations that need to happen.

As for the IMF, Argentina owed them more than anyone else when he took office. He has to deal with them. Do they bankroll him? Have they given him more money and I haven't heard about it? Or are they just acknowledging that no one can repay at the rates originally set, and making noise about missed payments, and acting like their decision not to call in the UN "Peacekeepers" as a collection agency amounts to a "subsidy"? You know. The way the U.S. government projects big spending increases, executes smaller spending increases, and calls that a "cut" in spending because they cut the projected increase.

This, people, is what real 3D chess looks like. All kinds of people spent years telling me that printing enough money to destroy the middle class, build the military up for WWIII and give Biden billions of vials of poison to pass out was 3D chess. If so, he either wasn't playing for us to win, or Trump is one crappy chess player. Then the exact same people turn around and tell me all these positive outcomes keep happening despite the "fact" that Milei isn't playing 3D chess. It's how I determine that the person speaking doesn't know the first damned thing about chess.

I agree. I also have no idea what it takes in this modern clown world to convince the head psychopaths to suffer you and your little country to live. All politics is local, and his constituents call the Western Hemisphere home. That makes it inconvenient for Russia and China to come bail him out. And, honestly, they aren't as motivated to do it as the U.S. is to run around jacking with people.

I consider him skilled if he can arrange it so a little lip service is all the "protection money" he has to pay the mafia for all of them to be left alone.

They (IMF) gave have him more money & Now you know about it...

This was a few weeks ago, announced by IMF:

No, I don't. Did they? Got a link, so we can parse it and decide for ourselves if they said they really gave him money, or just found another creative way to say they're giving the nation a break on their usurious interest rates?
