Libertarian Party 2024 POTUS/VP ticket: Chase Oliver & Mike ter Maat

Never say never. But 2024 is definitely their year to be completely irrelevant. They can Chase the rainbow to hell as far as I'm concerned.

How can anyone think this party will ever be taken seriously? They don't even take themselves seriously.

I don't know that it will be. I don't know that it recovers. But the situation is in such flux right now that like the mythical phoenix, just about anyone can rise from the ashes if they can find the wings on which to do it.

That's just how unsettled this dying empire is. If somebody builds a better mousetrap even as the rats are overrunning us, everything they did before will be forgiven.

Is that the same Jon Stewart that host the daily show?

Nope.

They should disband totally.

No.

More harm than good.

Over the long haul? No. Right now? The party isn't doing any harm to anything but itself.

Maybe that's why they exist.

Of course not, but there's definitely an organized covert infiltration designed to make it that.

I've been trying to think what made those delegates switch that direction. All I know is, I can see a third of them thinking Chase is more likely to steal votes from Biden than Trump. I can see a third thinking Chase is more likely to steal votes from Biden than RFKJr. And I can see a third thinking Chase is more likely to steal votes from Biden than either RFKJr or Trump.

And I can see all of them noticing that Chase was having a ball, whereas all this is a pain in every other prospect's ass.

I'm of the opinion that they are promoted by the establishment as a Trojan Horse 3rd party, so that more legitimate parties don't emerge into the 1-5% range as more viable alternatives. I'm not saying this is what they always were, but it's what they've become.

What you're describing isn't a Trojan Horse because it doesn't covertly deliver anything. You're simply talking about controlled opposition.

Yes, obviously that exists in the party. That's why the Mises Caucus has been so rambunctious. But let's face reality, shall we? The Mises Caucus is composed of some smart people who can surely see that they don't have a Dave Smith-quality candidate available, and even if they did, about all he could do this year is spoil Kennedy's chance to break the Uniparty.

This subverted the supposed efforts of the swamp by insuring that the LP siphons more votes from Their Official Intended, who presumably is Biden. The LP could steal more votes from Biden than the Greens do, for God's sake. Or this obvious plant is intended to make this defeat of Biden even more humiliating. To assume the former is to ignore Sun Tsu and underestimate the enemy. Which seems to confirm my belief that their real intended is Trump, and they're just pretending they hate him for whatever reason.

This race is unusual in the sense RFK Jr. is an Independent that is going to attract the highest number of votes, rather than the default 3rd party. Although LP is still the default 3rd party, it's under significant challenge by Green. No challenge of yet from any other. Americans are still conformists in the sense that even if they won't vote for the Republican or Democrat, they want to feel counted... as ridiculous as it sounds, they will vote for the 3rd party in 3rd place on the most ballots because they really don't want to "waste" their vote on a 4th-7th that never receives over 1%. You are correct I could have thought of a better metaphor. I was picturing the jaded voters as the soldiers that fill up the Trojan Horse.

Angela McArdle:

“I endorse Chase Oliver as the best way to beat Joe Biden. Get in, loser. We are stopping Biden. That’s what I think. That’s what I think this campaign is about.”

McArdle said “one of the best ways” to stop a second Biden term would be to “go hard in the paint for [Oliver] in blue states.”
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/we-are-stopping-biden-libertarian-party-chairwoman-reveals-strategy-of-protest-votes/ar-BB1nz9L5?ocid=msedgntp&pc=LCTS&cvid=6e52460b3e8a489495c4610be6696359&ei=21

“I am going to work very aggressively, especially in blue states, to make sure [Oliver] has the support he needs from the national party,” McArdle said.

She said the focus of this strategy was in blue states, where enough of the vote could be taken from Biden that Trump could potentially win the state.

“I encourage people to try to use the Chase Oliver campaign to try and pull protest votes from the Left,” She said.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Biden campaign for comment.

Biden has faced a string of protest votes from the far Left during the primary season over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war. In Michigan, a key battleground state, more than 100,000 Democrats voted “uncommitted” in place of Biden as a protest in the primary.

Conversely, McArdle said red states could choose not to put Oliver on the ballot, and she would respect their decision one way or the other.

“Now those of you who are in red states and who want to support Chase, like really support him, you’re not begrudgingly putting him on the ticket, that’s entirely up to you. That is your choice as a state affiliate, but I’m not going to put my thumb on the scale,” she said.

There you go.

We aren't talking about stupid people, here.
Snowball take your pick: The Swamp set all this up because they really want Biden, but they're stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot. The Swamp set all this up because Trump is slated to win (did you know that the Grover Cleveland entry in Wikipedia was recently changed from "only" to "first" president to serve nonconsecutive terms?). Or the delegates took seriously the LP's role as spoiler, as people have been swearing for decades that it is, and decided whose vote they really wanted to split.

Take your pick. I don't see another scenario that fits the facts.

This is the lowest the LP has ever fallen. Oliver has no education, no experience, and no qualifications whatsoever.
He is not only for unrestricted immigration but for a WELCOMING pro-immigration policy.

Vermin Supreme is a better candidate.

I just checked on Grover. It's back to "only".

Democrats are going to win and it won't even be close in the Electoral College.
