Kansas Caucuses Thread

Advocating ending it, and having a realistic way to obtain that goal are two different things. Like it or not, no one is going to be able to end the IRS and income tax overnight. Those who think they can are living in the fantasy world of Libertarian blogs and forums.

Yes, I'm living in fantasy land, and advocating that 100% of people pay taxes, and many at a higher rate than they currently do, is an incremental step towards nobody paying taxes.

Problem:

More government

Solution:

Way more government

I wouldn't mind going to jail for casting my vote for a different candidate first ballot if it made a President Paul.

They may not even let you do it. If you do it, they may not even count it. It will likely not come down to 1 vote.

173 votes in douglas. the country is doomed.

The Eventbrite ticket registration asked where you were from; KU, KS, etc., and I'm sure most of those 2000 in attendance had tickets. Should be easy to figure out how many of those in attendance were from Douglas county. Then again, residents of Douglas were allowed to vote in Johnson too. This is no excuse for 173 votes. There must have been some lazy bastards.

A corporation is simply a group of people who enter into a contract together. I don't see any problem with corporations. I would say that a "corporatist" is someone who supports subsidies and bailouts for corporations. Rand Paul certainly doesn't support that.

When did I sign a contract to pay for BP's losses? Fannie Mae's losses? Bank of America's losses? Anyone's losses?

Don't expect SHEEIT from Johnson County. Anyone from Kansas knows what I'm talking about. Nothing but stuck up pretentious rich folk who'll probably go for Romney if not for Santorum. Just about the ONLY place I'd consider a stronghold is Lawrence and Manhattan, but sincerely doubt we'll do anything there.

Regarding the rumblings about faithless electors...

Please keep in mind that, if you vote counter to your state's party rules, you can face punishment. Now, while I and many would probably not mind the "punishment" detailed for that offense, please realize that you would be making your statement in the first round. After that round, and subsequent rounds, we may wind up in a brokered convention, where your vote would have mattered.

Unfortunately, by then you may have been quietly found out, escorted off of the floor, and replaced with a zombified alternate.

Think things through.

You can have a flat tax and still exempt the first $30,000 of income or so from the tax. It doesn't have to hit everybody.

You do know that the results are in, right? We have the numbers for the counties that Lawrence and Manhattan are in already. They've had the vote already.

Taxes =/= government.

We have a fundamental difference in definitions of terms here.

Please define government, and what it means for government to be bigger or smaller (both sides, please).

Google says "100% reporting (127/127)" and yet 15 counties have not come in???

Unless your alternate is RP supporter. ;)

I don't personally think the convention will be contested. Planning for the possibility is interesting though.

100 votes in Riley County, home of Kansas State.

With a GOTV effort, we could have canvassed every back alley looking for town drunks, promised them a free fifth of Mad Dog 20/20 to vote Ron Paul and found at least a 100. LOL!!! This is truly turning into a joke. A pathetic one at that.

Yeah frankly, the much touted organization and ground game has really fallen short. Strategically caucus states are winnable because we essentially know how many votes it will take to win the state. Four years of organization and we can't identify enough voters to win even one state? It just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Oh well more stuff to add to the pile of things that we do not want to repeat in 2016/2020

Ughhhh... I just got home...

Fucking last? Jesus Christ...

Yeah, honestly though it is to be expected. I mean let's be honest with ourselves - you can't lose state after state, continue with the same strategy, and then expect different results. In reality the more states he loses, the worse he will do in the next. I am expecting mid single digits in the AL and MS primaries now. It's getting to a point where it is becoming embarrassing.

I never understood why he was spending so much time in Kansas rather than RI or HI or Connecticut, but I figured they knew they had organization. If so, it will come out in the end, I hope.

I always expected MS and AL to be our worst states. That would be expected.
