(Yes, this is another thread from me in this section asking a question. Bare with me here, lol).
So I was having this discussion with one of my friends the other day, and we somehow got to the topic of the United Nations (think it was because she was writing a paper on the UN botching in Rwanda) and I eventually starting talking about how bad the United Nations was as a whole, not just in that particular incident. She held the view that they're a necessary evil, and that leaving the United Nations would be "retarded." I then brought up how they erode our national sovereignty and that they have no really done anything that could be considered good. Looking back, I feel like I did a piss poor job arguing against the United Nations, seeing as it was a topic that I really wasn't familiar with and never gave much thought to outside of knowing that they're an awful organization that erodes national sovereignty.
If anyone could help educate me and help broaden my horizons on this topic, it would be great. Any articles, videos, books, etc that could help me here would be fantastic.
BTW, is it possible to form an argument against the UN without it sounding like (at least to the mostly politically ignorant) they're part of a global, one world government conspiracy? Not saying that it isn't true, but those who don't much would probably blow you off as a "conspiracy theorist" if you make it sounds like that?
