Turkish Army Enters Syria After Second Day Of Shelling As Saudi Warplanes Arrive
"The Syrian government says Turkish forces were believed to be among 100 gunmen it said entered Syria on Saturday accompanied by 12 pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, in an ongoing supply operation to insurgents fighting Damascus," Reuters reports. "The operation of supplying ammunition and weapons is continuing via the Bab al-Salama crossing to the Syrian area of Azaz," the Assad government says.
(noting that Turkey is shelling Kurdish positions- not Syrians and that Turkey has been shelling or attacking Kurds for decades off and on- not going to lead to WWIII).
Kurds have been fighting (with some successes) against ISIS in Syria.
They have also been attacking Syria forces.
Tehran, Iran; first arrival of "Silk Road" train from China, carrying 32 containers of commercial items, took 14 days to make trip thru Kazakstan and Turkmenistan (30 days less than sea voyage); rail line expected to extend to Europe --
"According to Iranian media, more than a third of Iran's foreign trade is with China, which is Tehran's top consumer for oil exports."
QUAGMIRE? nope.
"Regional powers such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar failed to overthrow Assad, and have achieved none of their war aims.
Iran and the Shia coalition it leads have been much more successful.
Though President Obama’s cautious policy is often criticised, he has suffered no real defeats.
When Russia entered the Syrian war four months ago, pundits predicted that it would regret it...
instead it has become central to deciding how the war will end."
(it's just me and my typewriter behind the neocon curtain. Cheers!Golden, just wanted to thank you for the updates- this is extremely helpful and I check back multiple times daily. Probably the only place in the whole internet where you can get an unfiltered look into what's really happening.
"in reality they do not intend to fully destroy ISIS and return power to the legitimate government of the country."
“But the [real] goals and tasks of this coalition lie on the surface. They want to prevent the full defeat of the ‘Iblis State’ and the restoration of peace in the region,”
“Iblis State,” or “Devil State,” referring to the Islamic State terrorist group, also known as ISIL and ISIS. Such a replacement has been proposed and promoted by Russian imams, who noted that using the word “Islamic” to describe terrorists was insulting to their faith.
“The plans of the authors of Middle Eastern wars and overthrows do not include the full liquidation of IS and the strengthening of Bashar Assad’s power,” ..... “But they will have to put up with the fact that the rules of the game are now dictated not by the West and not by the United States.”
In November 2015, Kadyrov addressed all Muslims in the world with a call to unite and destroy IS, adding that no one has the right to remain neutral after the atrocities committed by the extremists. In the same address, he reiterated his point that the current Middle East crisis was masterminded by the West. “Special services from the US and other Western states have cheaply bought the leaders of terrorist groups and ordered then to constantly shed Muslim blood, destroy stable countries and blacken the reputation of Islam,”.
Chechnya's President: "We have double agents in ISIS that guide our airstrikes"
I'm not a fan of mainstream media. That included Russian mainstream TV... until I worked on this clip.
It covers Chechen spies in ISIS, former ISIS members talking about their time there, interviews with Chechnya's president, spetsnaz training, islamic scholars talking about the failings of Wahhabism, former insurgent leaders talking about Chechnya's president, and a lot more!
Even more important is that this report is not based on claims of some "experts" stateside that have never met a single insurgent face-to-face, or "Syrian Network for Human Rights" (aka "that lone jihadist blogger in London whose fantasies are peddled as facts by BBC"), but real sources - top officials, people who fight insurgents every day - with real names and addresses, actual footage of special forces training, etc.
In short, this is the best thing I've seen from Russian mainstream channels in like a year (granted, I pretty much didn't watch them because I considered them nearly as useless as CNN etc.).
I wholeheartedly suggest you check it out.

The Syrian government army is also set to retake the key Tabaqah military airbase in southwest Raqqa province... It would also complicate any move by Saudi Arabia to deploy forces to the area.
