Iran: "U.S. and Israel cut internet cables"

..it`just scares me, that so many countries getting involved directly in this case..

Iran may be right. The spy submarine U.S.S. Jimmy Carter is not in its home port of Bangor Washington and the Navy is not saying where it is.

I was stationed at Bangor during the first Gulf War. My contacts tell me the purpose-built modified Seawolf class sub has been out since just after Christmas. It has undersea cable tapping capabilities and it's own Seal team. Fiber optic cables cannot be tapped without detection. The theory is that the cables were cut to creat a diversion while other cable were tapped.

I was watching CSpan this morning and I guess it was a recording from Thursday where Gen. Hayden, Mueller, and I can't remember right now the other guys names, but they were saying how the terrorists are using the internet to recruit and plan cyber attacks.

After reading about this and hearing them talking about that, I don't doubt for a second that we cut the cables.

THink about another angle here too...net neutrality

They are using the "Terrorist" blanket statement to lock down the internet.
It is coming to your neighborhood America, never doubt that...have you prepared a contact list?

Maybe you should!

This is all really complicated. Entangling alliances, indeed! It's perhaps naive to think that it is just the U.S., Iran, and maybe Israel. MANY countries in the world would stand to profit from our fall. In fact, as we're seeing, many countries are beginning to catch the news with military operations and posturing. I believe there is a sense of an upcoming major, systemic shift in power across the globe, and each player wants to be ready.

Many middle eastern countries are experiencing high inflation problems, but won't move off of the dollar despite their peoples' demands to do so...right after Bush's visit to their countries. This was after their central banks broke with the policies of the U.S. and did not lower interest rates along with us. On the other hand, Iran and Russia are interested in pushing forward with the Oil Bourse on Kish.

Sun Tzu taught to "know yourself AND your enemy" if you wish to be successful most of the time. It is common knowledge that our military has more destructive power at its command than any other nation. No one would be stupid enough to directly confront us, unless an opportunity were to present itself. Even a coalition of nations would be ill-advised to do so.

I fear that a storm is brewing against our power---quite naturally, quite economically---and that many out there will decide to take advantage of it. "When the giant is invulnerable, you must not attack. You must wait for a weakness in his armor".

China now has the ability to directly attack one of our centers of gravity: our communications satellites. Most of our advanced weaponry is dependent on the satellites to operate effectively and in unison. There are plenty of other systems in the sky that we don't have access to, but the other countries do, should ours be "lost".

Our conventional weaponry is worn out and our troops are worn out. We are spread thinly across the globe. Our once premier fighter planes are being grounded after breaking in half because they're 30+ years old. The old adage of "divide and conquer" is just as true today as long ago. With a loss of satellite communication, our troops will essentially BE divided across the world.

We are a bully. There was a time when I would have shouted down anyone who would dare suggest such a thing about America. Now I realize it's true. How else can you describe us? We enforce a dollar on the rest of the world. We exchange devaluing pieces of paper for "treasury bonds" and real manufactured goods and food.

Our treasury bonds are backed "by the full faith and credit of the Government of the United States of America". But that's complete BS when the debt is skyrocketing. There is less and less incentive to "tolerate" our behavior around the world. The opportunity cost of engaging us is becoming more and more attractive by comparison. The world is realizing that it can consume its own goods, and it has already begun doing so.

Our economy is built on a consumption "house of cards". The fragility has grown exponentially in the last decade. We don't have an industrial base like we used to. We're living LITERALLY on borrowed money, and one might say, on borrowed time. We could not possibly react to and rally behind a massive war effort as we were able to in the past. We don't have much of the infrastructure.

If there were ever a time when we in the United States were vulnerable to attack, it is now. And you can bet that if we ordinary Americans are able to recognize this fact, then the strategists in other nations are, and have.

I hope that this is all complete lunacy, but I don't have confidence in that hope. I think that 2008 will be a year for the history books...in many many ways.

More confirmation

On 03FEB I wrote the editor of World Oil regarding the opening of the Iranian Oil Bourse. I responded to an article they wrote about the topic. This is the reply I received:

odd that you would write now. The IOB is about to open. It will
be small at first and sell oil products, later will sell crude. It's on
the Kish Island Free Zone. Had some problems with an underwater fiber
cable needed for data. Apparently someone cut it.

All the best, Perry

Wish I still had the article link (sorry) but it was regarding the opening of the bourse and the dollar. I suppose a search through world oil might help. Happy reading!;)

Interesting addition to the story:

"In most instances Internet connectivity can be rerouted, and much of the Middle East has already done this. But what makes this situation unique is that the bourse was being established on Kish Island, a free-trade zone set up by the Iranians in hopes of creating a cool tourist destination.
For an example of what they are up to check out the Web site for one of the new hotels here. See link to Dariush Grand Hotel.
There doesn't seem to be an alternate Internet connection to the island other than the cut cables. I attempted to email the three top hotels on the island and all the email bounced. I was also unable to make a telephone call there indicating a large telecommunications failure.
The Web sites for the hotels are likely to be hosted off the island and are still working."

Hmmmm

I hope you don't believe this, this is effecting us here in Iraq too.

You know that is up to us, to believe in this or not. I just don`t believe in MSN bogus made story. When we saw a clear facts, what MSN disinformation doing here around us and what influence do they have, it never hurts to seach for some truth else where.

Of course cutting the Internet cables was an act of war. President Bush declared war on Iran a long time ago by sending in the CIA.

Why is anyone surprised? They're confident now that Ron Paul isn't making it to the White House, and so here comes the endgame. The war with Iran will not have such a light effect on our lives that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have.

We're looking at martial law, energy and food shortages, the complete breakdown of the constitutional republic.

Prepare.

The Sky is Falling, THE SKY IS FALLING

"An American attack on Iran will be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia"

Did Vladimir Putin order a "flying submarine" to do this BlackBerry thing in retaliation
for the Iran service cut that was "caused by a ship's anchor"?

and in other newzzzz, we have "fightin' words directed at King George...

Brian Ellsworth Reuters: "Chavez vowed to fight back, threatening to stop oil sales to the United States -- Venezuela's biggest oil customer ... PDVSA had told clients all of their payments should be made to UBS bank in Switzerland ... after Exxon lawyers reacted to their court victories by telling Dutch Antilles banks they should limit PDVSA from moving funds...

Chavez" ... labelled Exxon a group of "imperial, American bandits." "If you damage us, then we will hurt you. Do you know how? We are not going to send oil to the United States. Take note Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger,""

Good response.

I regret to say we deserve whatever happens due to the cruel foreign policy we practice. Such a shame so many people aroundthe world have suffered at the hands of the US.

We, here, by being asleep, must share some of the blame perhaps, even though we, too, are victims of our own government. As you say, it will be a very interesting year.

This article is nothing but Iranian propaganda! Give me a break!

How do you figure that out given they cited their "American" source?
Seems reasonable to me. Not that I think much of the Iranian govt.
Any govt that executes their own people strikes me as barbaric!

Sorry Raiha, did not notice the American source, what was it? The site is down.
And what government you refer to? :D

I have a thread going on the Iranian Oil Bourse. Russia and the EU, which is now bigger than our economy would love to see oil traded in euros....it is coming and when it does, our dollar will probably fall 50% or more from wher eit's at now....... it will take some time for the IOB to get going, but right now, Russia is looking to trade their oil for rubles. Venesuela is looking to barter their oil and avoid the use of the us petrodollar.
When Lou Dobbs says America is for sale it is a sign. That the dollar heavy chinese and middle east need a place to put those dollars or esle they will dump them on the market. Remember a couple months ago, someone from the mid east bought 10% of the Nasdaq....that was a sign that they are dollar heavy and need a place to put those dollars...... keep watching the news for foreigners buying up US property and securities. The more it increases, the closer we get to dollar saturation. We should have a slight rebound in the dollar soon, but it will only be a spike on the way down to death on a yearly chart.
the big thing to keep your eye on is the russians, the iranian oil bourse, venesuela and anyone esle our mainstream media demonizes.
Remember that news report a while back of how the us and the chinese decoupled our currencies frome ach other. Well, our news was slick and reported it that we wanted the chinese to decouple from our dollar, but really, it was the chinese who wanted to decouple from us becasue they were dollar heavy.....remember that when trying to read thru the news..... you gotta be a real 007 and think it thru....why would the chinese want to do that, or why would th erussians want to do this......gotta be on your toes to discern it.....it's fun and exciting. I get a kick out of decoding the news.....so it's sad, but you gotta look for some fun in it.....just enjoy it and "diversify" with some gold and silver......if a crash is coming, you don't have to freek. You have a plan! So have fun and let's hit the Ron Paul March this coming labor day weekend or July 4th weekend, whenever they decide..... plan ahead and be there.....we're gonna thow a big revioolution party on the scum bag capitol of the us, Washington DC

Im very new at all of this, and never really cared. I guess im getting older and im starting to care. That and Ron Paul really got me going.

So does this mean Iran produces alot of the Oil in the middle east and if they dont use US money(since are dollar so weak) that gas will jump a ton? Just looking for a lil break down.

no, if iran floods the market w/ oil it will destroy the speculators....

whether or not it will translate to cheaper prices at the pumps is another issue
altogether. the fallback there is lack of refinery capacity.
