there are roughly 1000 meetup groups right? If 10% of them are active enough for a portion of the list, and if they are working on 1000 names each, then that would be roughly 100,000 names distributed.

I will have to ask Bryce again for a better estimate than that.

My wife and I are working on a hundred each and we plan on knocking out at least a thousand total within the next couple of weeks. What is the deal? We should have more then that.

We are handwriting the address on the envelope and hand signing. Does it really matter if the salutation is handwritten? We could get more done if we can type that part. We would still have the name and address handwritten on the envelope.

The more personal the letter the better, but don't let that deter you from sending out typed ones! as long as they are short and easy to read they will be. :)

Sending out 40 more today for a total of 140 so far. My wife and I want to do at least 500.

fantastic! I chose to include my return address - it is more personal and will make them feel like you really want to talk to them. :)

just think about what would turn you OFF if you received a political letter, and do the OPPOSITE!

I would suggest just get a few hundred or a thousand names for you meetup and send them out to the people you know are serious whether they know about this effort or not. Send out a prewritten letter people can sign and comment on and have them throw in a slim jim. If people just have to stamp and write the envelopes, I'm pretty sure they'll do it, but all the messing around with getting names and coming up with content worth sending and it won't get done.

Its been slow going for me. I figure it takes 20 minutes for me to write a page by hand, address, and stamp each one. I should make my letters shorter but I get carried away when I talk about the incomparable Ron Paul.

It's true Alice. but the best thing to do is make it short and sweet, hit a few of the BEST things you know, and then direct them to the official website. I hate reading long letters from people I don't know. If it's short, and GRABS my attention, I will focus on it and reach for more on my own.

A Slim Jim is a good idea!

Yep, I put a slim jim with each letter I wrote.

Is the handwriting so important?

Greetings All,

While I agree a handwritten letter is a novelty these days, is it really so important? I will hand address the envelopes, sign my name, and give my personal mailing address and email, so this won't in any way be a form letter. I just think how hard it is for me to read my own writing and wonder if some stranger would bother to. Also, volume is important too. If I print my letter I'm only limited by how much money I can spend for stamps and envelopes. What about including a written post-it with something like "Thank you for reading this letter"?

I don't think it's very important, but if you have nice handwriting and are planning on writing a few letters at a time, it couldn't hurt!

First 10 Done...Feels Great!

Greetings All,

Just finished the first 10 letters and I'm ready for more. I applaud anyone doing the handwriting, just stuffing and labeling the envelopes takes me a bit of time. For anyone reading this and not doing it, PLEASE contribute. I'm the last thing resembling a joiner, so if I can do it you can too!

William C Colley

lol Mortikhi! Yes, much easier!

Guys, just to keep you updated from my end, Josh told me that we've already taken 300 of his names, and as of this afternoon I have distributed a further 250! All in just a few days. Well done!

Let's keep it up! I will be sending out 100 letters tomorrow and after that I will have 160 names left to distribute/send. :D
