Introduce yourself! Who, What, Where, Why!

My name is Paul. I'm originally from Washington State, but I live in Taipei. I'm currently working as a patent agent in training here in Taipei, and will (hopefully) take the MPEP (patent bar) later this year. I speak near-fluent Mandarin, am recently married, play the sax and the guitar at Truth Lutheran Church in Taipei, and am enthusiastic about Ron Paul's campaign (of course), value investing, and Square-Enix's ever-growing library of video games. So far, I have contributed a measly $150 to the campaign directly, as well as one ticket to the straw poll. As for things I can do, connections I have, well... I've thought a number of times that I may be able to help get lower prices on a number of goods/services here in Taipei to save everyone some money. For example, I believe printing is cheaper here (the quality is great, though), T-shirts might be cheaper to manufacture, DVDs perhaps. It seems like it's past time to deliver the message of freedom on a large scale to the people of America who, like my parents, are not getting their political news online. I'd love to help in any way possible. If the project were large enough, I might also be able to get support from sources in China. My father-in-law pastors a 1700+ attendance church in Taipei, so my wife and I have access to a number of businessmen here in Taiwan, some of who have expanded to China. Feel free to PM me if I can help in any way.

I'm Jeff, an early retired former engineer and a Libertarian for Ron Paul. From San Antonio.

I'm a 44 year old Army reservist who thinks the war in Iraq is NUTS!

I've worked on lots of campaigns before that were largely Quixotic- Libertarians like Harry Browne (may he RIP) who were good men, but I knew they didn't have a chance in Hell.

This is different- there is an energy to this campaign that makes me feel that there is hope that Ron Paul can win, and I'm going to do what I can to help!

I'm Ken, 36, living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Married. I'm currently working as a Business Analyst. I am a Christian. I am a Constitutionalist. I am definetly a paleoconservative and truly believe that modern American liberalism is pure evil.

I'm orginally from New Jersey, graduated from the U of Delaware, and have lived in the Triangle area of North Carolina as well.

Anyway, I was a Republican as far back as I can remember. I loved watching Ronald Reagan on TV as a teenager, and thought we lived in the greatest country on earth because we had that man as our President. I went to college and worked for George H. W. Bush, and remember becoming quite upset with his policies, "no new taxes", failure to pursue Saddam, and not governing like Reagan's third term as promised.

So, in '92, I voted for Buchanan in the primary, even though New Jersey's primary didn't matter. I supported Perot until he started going wacko and talked about massive tax increases. I ended up voting for Bush and felt sick when Clinton won. I did think it was the end.

However, I worked for Christie Whitman's gubernatorial campaign in '93, and thought the GOP still had a chance. I was re-energized in '94, and became a huge supporter of Newt. Unfortunately, I feel the true Republican party died when Bob Dole lost in '96.

I moved to NC in '98, and started listening to what the Libertarians had to say. It was tough for a "Yankee" to listen to some of the far righties in the NC GOP. I ended up becoming a Libertarian in 2000, and voted for Harry Browne. I then ran for Congress in 2002 as a Libertarian. However, I'm a little more conservative than the average LP person, and rejoined the GOP after my race. Don't think I was ever a neo-con, even though I did support the Iraq War until we got Saddam. I thought that was the whole point. I am against it now. I also believe Radical Islam is an enemy, but continually poking it isn't going to make it go away.

I support Dr. Paul because the GOP has lost it's way. It's no longer the party of Goldwater, Reagan, or even the '94 Revolution. We need to take it back.

My fear is the same as many of you. The leaders of the GOP are becoming fascists, the Democrats are going socialist. They're all going globalist. Where are the TRUE CONSERVATIVES? Dr. Paul is one.

My name is Akus.

No, that's not the name you'd see on my driver license, but that is my internet name. I am a member of several other non-political message boards under this name.

Anyway. I have learned of Libertarian Party by listening to Neal Boortz starting roughly in 1998. I was perplexed to hear how both the Liberals and Conservatives were bashed, something I wasn't used to. I read Neal Boortz' Neals' Nuze every day and that is how I've found out of Ron Paul.

The only reason I even care about these elections is because Ron Paul is on very good terms with Libertarians. I long since stopped listening both Liberals and Republicans because all I heard is dribble and more promises and no action on the issues that are plaquing this great country of ours.

Just graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. I'm 30 years old as of 07/31/2007.

hi

My name is Wesley. I grew up with a democrat for a mother so I learned and thought along the same lines. Always voted democrat. Personally I always thought very conservative, but I guess a sudo socialist government wasn't such a bad idea. Over time, things have changed. Ron Paul is fantastic. Great great man. I'll be voting for Ron Paul and when I get back to the US, I plan to run for office myself as a part of the Ron Paul Party :D.

I am an English teacher in South Korea. Grew up near Fort Worth Texas. Hate jeans and cowboy hats. Studied Computers in college. Currently working with Ubuntu and networking in my spare time. I am married to a Korean and have a young son with another child coming in the next few weeks. I'll turn 30 about a month before Ron Paul is elected President.

BY THE WAY>>>> IT IS A LOT, NOT ALOT>>>>ALOT IS NOT A WORD.

I am Joseph from Newark, NJ. I have had political aspirations for a while now, but I don't play well with others :p Michael Badnarik is a lot like me issue-wise. I'd probably run as a Democrat one day just because they are very strong in NJ, I want to be in it to win it if I ever do run for something! I'm very young though.

I have a lot of interests.... no experience in talking with people, nothing to brag about, pretty humble life

Hi everyone. What a great place this is!

Im Jack. 31 years old from Charlotte NC. I lived in Northern VA for my whole life before moving to the south last year. I love Dr. Paul's views and I especially support his view on ending the War on Drugs. Ill be honest, I enjoy smoking marijuana as a stress reliever and the thought that I am labeled a "criminal" because of it is absurd. Dr. Paul believes I should be free to do whatever I see fit to do to myself and I love that about him. And I think he is the only candidate who would actually work to do it! I dont subscribe to any political party but I find myself leaning libertarian in my views. It shouldnt be about the party but rather the candidate anyway! Lets put this man in the White House and restore that position to the dignity it deserves.

Hi my name is Len, I'm 21 , I'm an atheist and I'm Irish.

I heard about this whole freedom thing back in September 06 on free talk live. I heard Ian and Mark say that "Dr. No" was the only politician worth a damn , well before his presidential campaign.

Personally I find the whole idea of any government to be amoral , but having Ron Paul as president would do so much to reduce the evils of government , his campaign has got me excited.

I've seen this forum on a few you tube vids and decided to join.

We have to do this. There is no other option.

My name is Chris.

I am a 52 year old support engineer working for an Internet service provider in Imperial City, DC.

I'm just old enough to remember seeing John F. Kennedy speaking at the West Virginia Centennial Celebration in 1963 and I know what AuH20 means because I remember seeing the signs.

I am a child of the Sixties.

Nuff said.

I enlisted in the Air Force in 1972. As with many of my contemporaries it was a great way to dodge the draft. I saw myself with three choices: 1) go to Canada and risk a felony conviction 2) carry a rifle in Vietnam, or 3) fix broken airplanes in Arkansas. It was a no-brainer.

lrafb.jpg

I got out shorty before Jimmy Cater was elected.

I set out to study electronic engineering in digital electronics, but ended up dropping out to make my living as a singer/songwriter. After too many years of just enough money to drive to the next gig (think Lodi), I finally got a real job working as quality inspector in Southern California during the tail-end of the Reagan Defense Boom. The company I worked for eventually tacked the letters V.P. after my name. I was 33, single, making way too much money and living less than an hour's drive from L.A. I lasted about 3 years and ended up driving across the country with all my worldly possessions jammed into disintegrating Celica GT, weighing about ninety pounds and living on the last batch of meth I could afford. I ended up on my sister's doorstep in Pennsylvania proving that home is indeed that place where when you have to go there, they have to let you in.

I became an on-fire Pentecostal and married my sister's best friend.

resurrection.jpg

We were together about seven years, finally parting amicably when the Jesus wore off and we both realized we where neither of us the person we married.

I was working again in Quality Assurance but slowly migrated to IT as the company I worked for started using these new fangled computer things. Not long after my divorce I left my job when the small but successful and very proud manufacturing company I worked for got swallowed up by a large conglomerate which proceeded to destroy everything we loved about working there.

After that I worked as an IT contractor around the DC area and abandoned Christianity completely.

electric_pent.jpg

I was initiated into Wicca, but ended up drawn more to Ceremonial Magic rather than garden variety Paganism.

I could tell you about people, places and organizations, but, heh heh, its a secret.

Shortly before September 11th I had been fired from a gig at a Dept. of Health and Human Services office in Rockville, Maryland because I couldn't get a security clearance (thank you Tommy Tompson). I had been slowly gravitating toward small el libertarianism. My journey began with a debate on a citidel style bbs about Lincoln and secession. I had always considered him on of the Great Presidents (TM) and thought that preserving the Union was his finest accomplishment.

lincoln.jpg

I started googling "secession" to gather ammunition for the debate, tooling all around the intertubes until I stumbled upon this oddball website called LewRockwell.com.

lewrockwell.jpg

It was quite an education. The scales began to fall from my eyes. Before to long I found myself reading this: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/paul16.html

The more I read his stuff the more astounded I became.

Eventually it lead me to blog this: http://isilion.blogsome.com/2005/07/27/im-ready-to-move-to-texas/

The day I heard about this: YouTube - Ron Paul Announces Candidacy on CNN I wrote a check for $100.00. I have never given money to any politician in my life.

The rest, as they say is history.

0002qc82

Now, you'll have to forgive me for going overboard on this post, but there is madness to my method. I have lived long enough to have a vague recollection of the dream of America. I have passed through some of its worst nightmares. I have seen us at our best and our worst. This video YouTube - Echoes of Liberty: From Jefferson to Paul could be the story of my life.

There is just about nothing I haven't seen, heard or done. I am an intelligent man who has explored life from many perspectives. I like to think I have obtained a little wisdom in the process, if only by the tried and true method of making mistakes and learning from them.

What I see right now is that we are at a pivotal moment in history. We will either succeed in passing the glorious benefits of Liberty to those that come after us or we will witness the descent of a tyranny unimaginable by those who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to pass that gift on to us.

We have to do this.
There is no other option.

Great post inibo.

I'm Gustavo, from Rio, Brazil. With the exception of Chile, South America is politically doomed. I consider myself very fortunate to know libertarian ideals in such a statist culture. Brazil doesn't have Founding Fathers or a brilliantly written Constitution.

Public schools here indoctrinate statism and anti-americanism. I used to think this hatred of the US was out of jealousy, but there are historical reasons, namely the US interfered with Brazil's political scene back in 1964, helping establish a military dictatorship that lasted 21 years.

I've been trying to contribute to Ron Paul's campaign mostly through the Internet, it's not like I can do much else from way over here.

You have done plenty by saying what you just said.

I'm trying my absolute best to imagine someone from Brazil, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, working the Internet to try to get Mitt , Rudy or Fredo elected. I'm drawing a blank.

My friend, whether they know it or not, we are doing this for the whole world. And for once we are going to do it without firing a single bullet.

America...so much money and power.....so little understanding of what to do with it.

As an engineer in the USMC I spent a few months or more in central america (El Salvador & Honduras) on humanitarian missions. Mostly building or renovating schools, roads and bridges.

While there on humanitarian missions I was armed, but not really allowed to defend myself in the normal sense of the idea. Instead I was placed under the care of the El Salvadorian Policia Militar (spelling). They were a bunch of 16 or 17 year old kids, sporting battle scars and MP5's, that had fought and killed in a civil war! They loved slipknot, coca cola, and any other American culture that a typical teenager would love. They also had the seriousness, demeanor, and sense of duty of a professional soldier. One minute, in the sunshine of a street square, the kids were kids, laughing and listening to music. At the approach of a car they became every bit the sheepwolf 'bad-guy' killer we Marines were. Serious, cold blooded and deadly.

I didn't work this hard through the 28 years of my life I've lived to have my children share those experiences. (Even though I wish my kids could find the sense of honor and duty these El Salvadorian MPs had)

This convinced me that we need some understanding of what to do with this money and power. I don't know about you, but I know exactly what I want to do with my money and power. I want to keep my nose on the grindstone, raise a family, make honorable choices, and stay the hell out of other people's business unless they ask me for help.

National policy would benefit from this idea.

Hmm...how do I describe myself....I was born in 1960 in Southern Illinois, lived all over the southeast until my family settled in Western Kentucky. I lived in the hills of Western Kentucky for 25 years, and now reside in Central Florida, but my heart still belongs to Kentucky.

I became a registered democrat when I turned 18 in 1978. I voted for Carter in my first election. I voted my conscience in other elections, not always voting "straight ticket" democrat.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1980. I seek His guidance in all that I do. I have taught Sunday School, and after I graduated from Murray State University, I became a Special Education Teacher in the Public School System. - I agree 1,000% about what Ron Paul says about the Federal Involvement in Public Education. I taught for 7 years, and I saw corruption at every level of the Public education system, usually involving embezzlement, misappropriating funds, ignoring laws written to protect children with Special Needs. Doing away with the Department of Education will not solve all of the problems with Public Education, but it is a good start!

I am also very much against abortion. That was what caused me to switch parties a few months ago. I was checking out the candidates and every single demoratic candidate is pro-abortion. There is no one left to vote for! Then I started looking at the Republican candiadtes and their stances on the abortion issue - and lo and behold I found Dr. Paul! I am not just against abortion, I want the murder of innocent lives to stop. I cannot tell you how many politicians I have voted for that "said" they were against abortion, yet allowed the murderers to continue. I think Dr. Paul can stop the murders. If there is away to do that, then he will do it.

I find that the more I read and learn about Dr. Paul the more impressed I am with his wisdom, his courage, and his ability to speak clearly about things that matter the most. I was inspired by his response to Guilinai in the recent Republican debates, and I like his ideas to refocus defense of our country by securing our borders and withdrawing our troops from the Middle East.

He has been around th political areana long enough to know the dedly game of chess ouur foriegn policy has become, and he has also studied history to understand how our country has gotten to be in the mixed up messed up shape it has become.

I grew up during the days of the cold war, and I feel as if our country has turned into a communist nation while we were being kept distracted by Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith.

I feel like Ron Paul is our only hope! I want him to win and I want to do what ever I can to get his message out!

Hi, my name is Bob and I'm a Pauloholic!
;)
I live in a town called Thompson Ct.
Have been a supporter for years
Am doing anything and everything I can to get the word out.

I guess i'll finally get around to introducing myself.

My name is Heather, and i currently live in Lake County, IL (north of chicago). I'm originally from Dayton, Ohio. I'm 26 years old, and i'm currently a security officer/dispatcher, hoping to begin a law enforcement career in the near future. I've also worked as a freelance graphic designer along with my husband doing concert poster designs for national and local bands, along with many other projects. If anyone needs anything quickly - just let me know and i'll help you out. I'm currently working on a tshirt design that is going to kick total ass...literally ;)

I'm a relative newbie to Dr. Paul - right after the first republican debate, someone posted a link to the video on craigslist and after seeing that i was determined to learn more. I Tivo'd the next debate, and from that day forward nothing has ever been the same. I have been lucky enough to travel to Iowa for the Freedom Rally as well as the Straw Poll. I also participated in the Walk around Chicago last Sunday, which was great fun. I've met a lot of wonderful, quirky, dedicated freedom-loving people :)

I've always been opinionated when it comes to political theory, but up until now i've never felt there really was an honest candidate or movement that i could support fully - until Dr. Paul, that is. I've been chomping at the bit to get involved, and now I'm chomping at the bit to do MORE. I don't like to do things half-way. I only wish i had more to contribute!!

Hey guys,

My name is Jackie and I'm from Long Island, NY. I've got my first Ron Paul MeetUp next week and I'm sooo excited!

I've never felt this passionate about a cause in my entire life! I truly believe we are at a very crucial moment in time. The wolves are at the door and this next election will decide whether we return to a constitutional republic, or become part of the North American Union and loose our country forever. I mean, all of this is so freakin' unreal! It's scary but at the same time I feel so empowered because of Ron Paul and because of people like YOU! We're kindred spirits in this fight for Liberty. This is truly "our" second American Revolution. An "online revolution" if you will. We're waking up the masses and stickin' it to the New World Order.

And I'm so happy to see many military people on this forum who support Ron Paul, and not blindly following Bush. Saying thank you for your service just doesn't seem adequate enough! From what I've read about those colonists who fought and sacrificed their lives for the cause of independence, they were just ordinary people who did extraordinary things. And one of the main reasons for their success was perserverance. They simply never gave up. I think that's something we should keep in the back of our minds when things don't always go the way we planned.

Lastly, I've heard that the one thing they will finally get Ron Paul on is his lack of funds. The bigger states will move their primaries up earlier, which will hurt Ron Paul because he won't be able to afford it. However, I just heard of a great idea to raise money for him. Ebay! Sell your junk on ebay and use that for donations.

Power To The People! Go Ron!
Hi, I'm Doug (William is my middle name) I live in the boondocks of upstate NY and have been a libertarian and a RP supporter for a long time. In response to the above - if we do well in the early primaries, believe me, the money will come. We don't have to be selling our shoes - if we can get the message out to all the dissengaged and fed up Americans they will come alive. People feel like that can have no influence. Once they get a load of the RP message things will change. Exposure is everything. That is the challenge. Make RP visible and the money will flow.

I love the newbies and find them most inspiring. You are the people we are trying to reach. People just need to hear the message. I have always felt the when people heard the libertarian message (which is central to RP's campaign in MHO) they would respond. It has generally been shut out from the debate. This is our first real opening.

This is really so cool. I am an atheist as are a number of folks here. The RP tent manages fit all of us in and inspire all of us - regardless of our personal life choices. Freedom is popular. I have to add, for many years I felt very alone in my libertarian views. My only connection to other like minded people was the internet. It has been such a revelation to discover there are really many of us out there. I supported the Libertarian party for a long time and have been an on and off member for many years. Sadly, the Libertarians have a prediliction to eat their own young and to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. My loyalty has never been to a party, but only to views represented by the party. I would like the Libertarians to pull their act together. Right now I think they should put their resources behind DR. Paul since he is the first real chance for more or less libertarian views of government to get wide exposure. I have to say, there seems to be a lot of really smokin' babes supporting RP. I look through that collage of photos the women are all dolls. I think RP must have some special sex appeal. Maybe it's freedom that is sexy.

Josh I had no idea this thread was even available and to find out the creator of this site is a realtor as well. Well lets just say good karma my friend good karma

My name is Jon I'm 27 a former neo con hard core republican. My eyes are open now and yes they have seen the light.

I have a degree in Education and History and planned on teaching high school history but I didn't want to make 30k a year so I decided to go into real estate. I've been doing it full time for a little over 3 years now and things are good.

My lawyer girlfriend is a hard core dem and lobbyist which makes debating politics interesting in my house. She hates Paul which make me like him that much more.

As of right now all I do is read about Paul and the Redskins. Everything else is secondary.

jontherealtor.com
for those interseted this is my poorly put together company designed website.
Good for you. You have to admire a person who willing to honestly reevalute his held positions and point of view. What is interesting is that people who have changed their minds in this fundamental way seem to be the most enthusiatic supporters.

My name is Darren. I live in the Southern Tier of New York. I work in the field of civil engineering.

I've been familiar with Ron Paul for the last couple of years. Since I've learned of him I've hoped that he would run for president. I never really thought it would happen though. This is like a dream come true for me.

One more thing, Ron Paul is the first politician I've ever donated money to.

There is hope for America again, Ron Paul all the way in '08!!!
Hey guntherg16, how are you? I live where you live more or less. I'm about 45 miles north of Binghamton and south of Utica in a little Hamlet called Mount Upton. Do you know where that is? What town are you in? I haven't put my yard signs out yet, but I will order them and put them out soon. My name is Doug.
