Insider Advantage Florida GOP Primary Poll
John McCain: 23% (23)
Mitt Romney: 23% (22)
Rudy Giuliani: 16% (18)
Mike Huckabee: 13% (16)
Ron Paul: 7% (4)

Paul gets 10.4% of the 30-44 age group but just 2% of over 65s.

It’s important to note that Insider Advantage, for some inexplicable reason, includes Democrats and independents in their Florida polls. Quite alot of them in fact; in this poll nearly 1/3 of respondents are Democrats or independents. Given that Florida’s deadline to change your registration to Republican was December 31st, these voters are utterly irrelevant. Just including Republicans, the poll looks like this.
Mitt Romney: 30%
John McCain: 23%
Rudy Giuliani: 19%
Mike Huckabee: 12%
Ron Paul: 7%

Considering that Fred Thompson (a Conservative) dropped out, this 1% increase to 7% is a DISASTER.

Drop the RevolUTION stuff. It ain't working.

The blimp flew mostly in South Carolina and Florida. It didn't have the effect I expected.

Imagine if the blimp said: "Save Social Security" "Learn about Ron Paul"

That's what I've been saying for several weeks now. 45% of Repulbican voters in Nevada were over the age of 60.

We lost BAD in Nevada. We will do worse in Florida.

It's the OLD PEOPLE stupid !

As I expected, most Thompson support went to Romney. Romney also got a major boost in the Rasmussen tracking poll today.

That's why I keep saying he has to make a point of his military service. If he hammers that home he gets instant respect from old people and old vets. Otherwise, people see him as maybe a professorial type who skipped the war. He's got a great resume, and I just don't get why he doesn't make a point of it in a big way. Not over do it, but get some digs in there against those who haven't served.

What's the reason for this. Please don't just say its because old people are brainwashed. I am interested in the real reason.

Not brainwashed, but do vote for their own interests. In their case that is overwhelmingly Social Security and MediCare. Paul is not seen as a guy who will add more benefits, so they will avoid him. Also, these people are the least likely to get news and information on-line, so the media bias affects them the greatest.

The vast majority of "old people" who learn the content of Dr. Paul's message are Ron Paul supporters. The problem is that a large percentage of those people get all their information from the MSM. Presentations at retirement centers could have won Florida for Ron Paul.

Or lit-dropping retirement condo/apt/home communities. Seniors read everything they get hanging on their doors.

Also, stress no taxes on Social Security payments (part of his economic plan).

Seriously...

Ron Paul Revolution means NOTHING to people who don't know who Ron Paul is. One side of the blimp was totally wasted.

I have to wonder about that? I would have thought, given their ages and the resultant "wisdom" gained, the retirees would put more effort into researching the candidates, rather than relying on the Machine.

Of course some of them may have done real research, and in the end just wanted to keep their SS checks a comin'.

Presentations at retirement centers could have won Florida for Ron Paul.

Because of the Machine's complete black-out of Paul, I can only hope HQ new this and Paul made the rounds.

Old people watch TV ONLY!
Paul gets almost ZERO TV coverage compared with the other candidates.
Old people will say they are "online" because they do email.

The msm is doing it's job effectively in shutting out Ron Paul to this demographic, which is why they don't vote for Paul.

Older folks don't want to be stuck at the bottom of the pyramid scheme.

It's one thing to be young and resist paying into social security, it's another thing to have spent your whole life having your wages taken away and then have politicians telling you your money's gone.

Older folks are naturally afraid they are going to be ripped off by the government, so they get nervous about other people not wanting to pay into the system (ie "privatization").

Ron should make "a deal's a deal" a cornerstone of his campaign, to reinforce that it's Ron Paul's administration that will most reliably fulfill commitments. He tried this in the last debate, but he needs to be clearer.
