I fu----in love football

You should put a reply in this thread: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=32

Just a general "Welcome" type thread. Quite a few of us have introduced ourselves there over the years. :)

Ya know... I have been a visitor of this forum basically since it started (I know what my join date says--I had a different name before), and never once did I notice the welcome thread. It's probably because I immediately scroll down the page and never bothered to read forum guidelines.

Anyhooo, back to football/Vick.

He is playing incredible right now. It is impossible to stop our offense with Vick playing the way he is. Our defense gets a lot of turnovers but has been giving up a lot of points this year. Superbowl prediction: Eagles vs. Patriots

yeah cant wait till the bears play against them that is gonna be a good game

Oakland is my team, too bad they've been the laughing stock of the sport for years now :(

The Raiders might win their division this year. Nobody else in their division seems to want it.

And Jason - Ravens/Eagles Super Bowl. No matter what the outcome, 80 miles of I-95 will be destroyed. :p

If the birds dropped vick, i'd root for em again. I just like dogs too much

Right with ya man. I came in this thread to post the same thing.

It's not even just about dogs. He is just a bad human being in general and I hate the thought of kids idealizing a thug like him.

I'm a huge Eagles fan, and I abhor the things I have heard Vick has done in his past. But that is in his past. The man lost millions of dollars and spent time in jail. Everyone makes mistakes but if you correct them and become a better person then you deserve some leniency from those who were most offended.

How anyone can still have a grudge against Vick is, in my opinion, completely rediculous. Get over it. It's not like he is still a scumbag. By all acounts he has done a complete 180, does community work, speaks out on animal abuse, etc., and I think he is sincere; if I didn't I would not want him on my team.

All the "good" shit he has done recently he has only done because it's in his own self interest. Of course he has to do those things. Otherwise he would never get any endorsements or make any money.

Just a few months ago we was at a party where someone got shot. THat's the kind of company he keeps. THat's the kinda guy he is. Just another thug who happens to be genetically good at a sport.

lol I'm happy when I see them win ANY game, let alone if they win their division.

Hmm, quite libertarian of you. He's guilty for the actions of others? He should be looked down upon for his lifestyle, whether or not he's a violent person?

Libertarianism has nothing to do with ones own personal judgements of others. I didn't say he should face any type of legal repercussions for what he did. I made a personal judgment that someone who is involved with those types of people is no role model for children.

That's a fair distinction. I happen to disagree with you, but I misinterpreted your position from your previous post.

Your only as good as the company you keep.

For real now. This is getting rediculous. Who watches football and worries about what the players do off the field anyway? Not every person is a saint from the day they were born. Vick now watches the company he keeps. He said that same thing in press conferences after the shooting. The shooting at a party a year ago. not months ago.

The incident was heavily investigated by the league and Goodell (the guy who has been suspending and fining players with behavior problems left and right) did absolutely nothing to Vick, because by all accounts he was trying extremely hard to change his life for the better and it was an unfortunate mishap. He had a party with some old friends over.

Some people grow up in certain environments that lead them to think some behaviors are acceptable. I see no reason to believe that Vick just wants to be a thug and is disguising his true agenda to make money. By watching his demeanor over the last two years I can say that I truly think he loves to play football and realizes his old habits and way of life was wrong. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Oh, and don't give me this role model crap and bring children into the issue. Unless kids hung out with Vick when he was engaging in bad behavior they would only see positive things from Vick. And if a child does hear about Vick's past they can learn a valuable lesson; no matter how big of a mistake you make in life it is never too late to correct things. I think that is something kids would benefit to learn of.

Yeah, I think the whole "role model for children" thing is a huge straw man that constantly is brought up when talking about athletes and celebrities. Do you think YOU are a good "role model for children" when in the company of your friends?

Sorry man. If you get your rocks off by taking life in my book there is no second chance. Or are you going to tell me that he felt sorry every time he shocked or drowned one of those dogs to death?

Free market man, you act like this tool did you will never get my money again, and better damn well stay away from me and my family.

Do your research. Vick was convicted of funding the operation, not of his own personal violent acts against dogs.

Do your research? Mother f*&ker, by all means if you were near me I'd slap you with a wet noodle, repeatedly.
