The mods have unfairly and biasedly changed this thread title to be personally insulting which I believe is a violation of RPF guidelines!

Just thought I'd share.

As much as I love football, I'm feeling a little depressed lately since all of my teams are sucking hard

Cowboys: Finally picked up second win, but at this point who really cares
Texans: That game against jacksonville isn't worth my time. Being there didn't help any
Browns: Can't really complain about them, but come on, hold on to the ball
University of Texas: Getting beat by Baylor is like would be like Ron Paul losing to Nader

So what about you? What teams do you like?

The football world has certainly changed when Texas fails to even get a bowl game and Baylor is challenging for the conference title. Then in the NFL you have the Raiders leading their division. But change is good- it gets boring to see the same teams win all the time. That is why people love to hate teams like the Yankees.

I find American Football boring. Football as the rest of the world knows it (aka "soccer" here) and rugby are way more entertaining. I also like a number of other events, like martial arts, fencing, and speed skating.

The NFL lost me as a consumer in the mid nineties. Got tired of all the expansion teams and players hopping around from team to team. The talent got too watered down over too many teams and the continuity of rosters dissolved, making the identity of the teams relegated to essentially the uniforms only. Very dull.

My vote for Best team ever: 1989-90 49ers. 55-10 winners over Denver in 1990 Super Bowl.

I only watch redneck sports. Wrasslin', roller-derby, nekkid lawn-darts, etc.

I think that the period you're discussing is essentially over. Teams today have a LOT more stability in their rosters than in any other major sport; granted, it's not what it used to be, but it never will be in the modern world of sports, where you have free agency, strong players' unions, and league-mandated salary arbitration rules. Fortunately, the NFL has been the only major US sport to counter this with things like the "Franchise Tag" and other things.

I think today the teams' identities are much more related to the players. Everyone thinks "Peyton Manning" when they see the Colts logo. Everyone thinks "Ray Lewis" when they see the Ravens. And so on...

Since moving the South Korea, I've slowly stopped caring about the NFL, but the local "football" is pretty good.

My local team won Asia.

If the birds dropped vick, i'd root for em again. I just like dogs too much

I'm a huge Eagles fan, and I abhor the things I have heard Vick has done in his past. But that is in his past. The man lost millions of dollars and spent time in jail. Everyone makes mistakes but if you correct them and become a better person then you deserve some leniency from those who were most offended.

How anyone can still have a grudge against Vick is, in my opinion, completely rediculous. Get over it. It's not like he is still a scumbag. By all acounts he has done a complete 180, does community work, speaks out on animal abuse, etc., and I think he is sincere; if I didn't I would not want him on my team.

There are people in the NFL who have been convicted of killing human beings, yet Vick is still demonized for funding an operation in which dogs were killed. He was not convicted of killing dogs, only of funding an operation which did so. He then spent 20 months in a federal prison (Leavenworth is one of the most hardcore prisons in America). He then spent the next year and a half at charity events, working a construction job for $10/hour to pay his debts while filing for bankruptcy, etc.

I can think of plenty of people who have committed far worse crimes who have gotten off much easier. (See: Every politician in the last 50 years.)

+2.

The "righteous indignation" against Vick was far over the top.
