How to raise the minimum wage without affecting the economy

Take from the Congressmen and give to the poor. They don't need it, after all. ;) :D Make them drain their Congressional pension plans and liquidate assets if need be.

Your so indecisive. You make a thread proposing a little scheme to centrally fix prices and control the economy then when people call you out on it you say you support the free market.
No, not fix prices; I'm only talking about wages. What I'm saying is that those in control of the government want to increase the minimum wage, which is not only something that I'm opposed to, but I'm also opposed to any kind of minimum wage (well, I suppose I don't care if they make the minimum wage anything greater than 0 cents or something like that), and it seems like they're going to do it whether I'm opposed to it or not. I'm opposed to it because it screws up the economy, and since they're going to proceed with that and being opposed to the minimum wage isn't going to stop them, then maybe a different strategy is needed.

And actually no, I'm not the one who wants to control the economy. I just want to mock those who think they can do the impossible.

Imagine what the reaction of the political pundits in favor of increasing the minimum wage might be. If they criticize the idea of increasing everyone else's wage proportionally, they're probably going to have to explain the economic effect of doing such a thing (otherwise they're going to sound like they're whining just for the sake of whining). When they do this, it presents an opportunity to call them out on the problems that increasing the minimum wage causes; they'd be cornered with no way out. At least that's what it seems like to me, anyways. Am I wrong? Would they not be cornered as a result?

They like to take advantage to give themselves double standards to their advantage. I think that's despicable. What you propose sounds good to me.

Yea fixing the price of labor.....

Ill take back you being indecisive though. What you are doing is saying a lot of nothing....eloquently.

Oh, ok; yeah, that.

Sort of; but it's not totally nothing. I'm trying to get an important point across to idiots who think that raising the minimum wage (or even having one at all) is a better idea than sliced bread.

I agree; trying to centrally adjust the economy is impossible. Think of using a measuring contraption that one can zero in; what I'm saying is that with the change in the minimum wage, what's needed to "normalize" things is to zero in all the other things that get offset. If done correctly, the minimum wage increase becomes nothing more than a superficial and in essence meaningless change in the number. It's like when you go from 1 meter to 1,000 millimeters; it's a written number with more zeros in it (to make minimum wage recipients happy), but the unit changed from meter to millimeters so the distance doesn't get affected.

So I gather your proposal is just about waking up these central planners to how many other variables are in play, and all of the unintended and cascade consequences of their actions?

There is all this talk about income disparity and gaps. I would propose a maximum wage instead of a minimum wage. That gets right to the point. Then the elite will squeal like stuck pigs about how that type of manipulation is destructive and will ruin the economy. The entire establishment will become "libertarian" (or should I say Objectivist?) overnight.

Yeah, something like that. You're getting what I'm basically trying to say (and accomplish).

There should be no pensions or health plan . Just a salary. They can pay for what they want out of that .

Cut congressional pay in half for every new law they make ...and tell them any losses will be made up in volume (ha ha, just more losses for them).

They should all get one shiny new gold coin if they would just wipe out all laws from the system and re-boot it with only the US constitution.
