How do I donate more than $2,300?

I'm personally maxed out, but I'm married, do I need to start using my wife's name?

If you are married you can both donate the full 2,300 I believe, yes.

i never understood this... if your a single person you can donate 2300...
if your married than the two of you can donate 4600 together..

uh. duh... 1+1=2

why do the campaign laws even bother to say this?
it makes no sense to me... is this for all the married couples who do not know how to do math?
