How could Ron possibly lose the most Libertarian state in the country?

Any time the youth and change vote turns out in record numbers like never before in American history, to vote for a candidate whose voting record is the most "establishment" voting record in the history of the United States, then even if Ron Paul comes in FIRST amongst the Republicans, then America has surely lost...something. Something vital which stabs me clear to the heart.

I'm just a cynical old man. I've heard the "youth are going to change the shape of this election" every year for a long while. When you guys hit about thirty, it seems like you all wake up and figure out that you can make a difference, and then you start voting. Stats have shown this to be true.

I really , really want this election to be the one where the youth wake up.. but.. forgive me if I don't believe it will be. I've fallen for THAT too many times.

That has been my experience as well. I woke up, but it was a little late.

Here's one, at least! Reporting in from Maryland, I'm 24 and chucking my little snowball at the gates of federalist Hades. But you're right, we're going to need some more snowballs over here.

I wouldnt move to NH now in the current climate if you paid me to. I have been trying for some time now to get my wife on board for moving to Alaska.

To sum the whole thing up about the drones in this country.. The fact that there is a "Iowa Bump" for an election is CRAZY.. I can possibly see jumping on a bandwagon for a sports team but for your LIVES and FUTURE .. Its really really sad that people can change their canidate based on how he did in another state .. Does anyone else see this MADNESS ..

When these sheeple go to the polls they think they are gambling on who's going to win. They don't realize that they are supposed to select the candidate who is best fit for the job.

Sad State of Affairs

I agree with OP.

If NH is the last concentration of hope for liberty in this country and the best a once in a lifetime candidate like Dr Paul can hope to do is place a distant third,...

Ironic since I stopped voting when I hit 30 because I realized I couldn't make that difference. I'm back in because of Paul, but just like falling off the wagon, I'm sure I'll end up even more distant from politics, than I was before, if this goes bad.

I don't get the youth thing though. That first vote should be exciting. It was a big deal my freshman year in college for everyone I knew. That was actually the first year I heard about libertarianism, even if I wasn't quite up to it back then. Next thing I'll hear is that kids don't go out to drink when they turn 21.

If you are "awake" you vote for Ron Paul PERIOD.

The crowd behind Obama..are taking the first step...more reading research and thought and maybe they will awaken as well.

Everyone other candidates support goes up and goes down. Ron Pauls does nothing but grow.

I want to defend the Free State Project. First off it is a long term strategy. We are talking 15 to 20 years at least before we can hope to see major changes. People have to pack up their lives and move to New Hampshire which can take years. Then we have to infiltrate the government there with our candidates. It'll be a struggle and will take years.
Hopefully Ron Paul has awakened enough people to make the Free State Project a success.
In our lifetimes New Hampshire could really be the Libertarian State we wished it was today.

Besides the state motto is there actual proof that NH is a major libertarian stronghold. They seem to be heading more and more towards a "blue" state but I don't have many years behind my political experiences.

Most of my peers in college vote on social issues and don't really pay attention to financial issues. The youth vote can be very overrated.

Too Generous

I think Dr Paul was way too generous at the ABC debates to suggest Obama's positions on foreign policy and civil liberties was similar to his.

While Obama opposed the war at the outset, his voting record, as Bill Clinton recently pointed out, is nearly identical to Hillary's. He has voted religiously to fund and prolong the war, and he won't even commit to a withdrawal by 2013!!!

And he voted to renew the Patriot Act. The differences between them are more than economic. I wished Dr Paul hadn't give him a pass on that, especially right before the primary.

We should be targeting ill-informed Obama backers who falsely think they are backing an antiwar candidate.

They are not heading towards a blue state. This is a massive rejection of the Republican party of the last 7 years.

And, a lack of knowledge of Ron Paul.

Little do they know, the neocons have just switched parties again, one step ahead of them.

HA! Thats the most succinct zinger describing this whole mess that I have come across. Well said.

i'm confused...i thought paul was focusing heavily on new hampshire...only $250k in ads, wtf??I really don't understand this "marathon" strategy when we have a candidate who has a "but he can't win" anchor around his neck. I would've thought that doing well early would show viability, which would lead to more momentum and better results in the later primaries. How many people in the later primaries are really going to take a close look at a candidate who doesn't place well in Iowa and New Hampshire? I understand McCain and Romney leading in NH, but there's no reason in H that Huckabee should be ahead of us in any poll in NH. It's like i've just stepped into some bizarro world where spock has a beard. Come on, NH, let's win one for the gipper!!!!
