How could Ron possibly lose the most Libertarian state in the country?

If independents are flocking to Obama as reported, then McCain will be hurt. He needs those voters. Romney would probably win a straight GOP primary.

I just cant see how it would be possible for Ron to lose.

The 5 top reasons I have come up with…

1. Even in New Hampshire the majority of people are sheep unwilling or unable to think critically.

2. The mainstream media has been unfair in its coverage of this campaign.

3. The Republican Party taints even a great candidate like Ron Paul.

4. The National HQs failed to take advantage of great grassroots support, incredible fundraising numbers and a great message by NOT spending the money necessary to hire people with the experience of winning a national campaign.

5. Ron Paul (as great as he is) has failed to fine tune his message & delivery i.e. not sounding so angry, breaking issues down so da common folk can understand how they effect them and communicating how his solutions would be implemented.

we got screwed on turnout in Iowa.

The young people want change! The young people understand! The young people hear the message! The young people are upset and know they are in a system that doen't care about their future! The young people...

voted for Obama.

If this trend continue, we need to push Dr. Paul to run as an indie that way we have time to really dig in to Obama's youth movement and swing the turnout in Dr. Paul's favor. It will be the summer of LOVE part II.

With all of the money that has been raised for Ron Paul, my $101.08 included, I would think he would feel somewhat compelled to stay on the ballot as an independent. Besides, it would be a principled stance anyways, something Ron Paul would certainly be in support of.

Tennessee held the last convention.

I've been here for over 20 years, and have been very in tune with politics. I've never heard of such a thing here.

The last time this state considered succession was 1861, and that was only because the center part of the state accepted it. Tennessee is almost three states in one, with each section (east, middle, west) leaning in different directions politically, so I can imagine a small group of people in the east-state might have gotten together to talk about it, but it's not gotten beyond that.

There's not been a secession movement of any serious import here since.

JS,

It's not the way Ron Paul himself is delivering his message. Howard Dean went out there on every stump speech in New Hampshire, rolled his sleeves up so everyone could see him doing it, and went on an angry tirade for an hour and a half about why Republicans are horrible. Ya know what? Howard Dean didn't win New Hampshire but he finished very well here and is still a much liked figure in this state. The problem is, Ron Paul hasn't traveled to every corner of this state doing Town Hall meetings. John McCain knows how to win New Hampshire, he stationed out here, did a couple thousand town hall meetings, and tired to meet every person that he could. Ron Paul has campaigned in this state less than every major contender in the race but a very large proportion. You can't expect to win any state when you are being out spent, your not getting equal time coverage, the networks are keeping you out of debates, and you aren't campaigning here anywhere close to your competition. That's politics, and it's simple as that, we don't have to try dissect this issue.

Why was all this not mentioned much earlier? All this false hope for a non-existent Libertarian environmnet. NO wonder McCain is big up there!!!

Same thing was done in Iowa after the fact.

This sort of demagraphic information should all be known before the campaign.

Hopefully, HQ knew it.

The American people's lips are firmly sealed to the the titty of government programs and until that security tit goes dry they keep voting to keep the milk flowing. Oh they might try and push their sibling off the other tit once in a while because mommy can't produce enough milk and talk about how lactate conservative they are because they are trying to get that sibling off the other tit but they can never quite get the leverage to push him away because when ones own mouth is sealed to the opposite titty you are too close to apply the necessary force.

Carole,

I think that's setting the bar low. Right now we are hearing about a huge turn out in New Hampshire for both parties which one would think should help out Dr. Paul. I think fourth place is more realistic, and third place would be fantastic.

I think the campaign did know New Hampshire wasn't a Libertarian Heaven anymore, I think that's why early in the campaign they spent more time in Nevada than New Hampshire. I hope that's what they were thinking anyway.

i am wondering if maybe this is the strategy and why the money is not being spent.

i think Dr. Paul knows a little bit about winning elections and I would like to think that he is more tuned in to the political atmosphere then all of us new comers to politics.

The voter turnout is the big story in this election. Young people who are flocked to the Dems side and the reports coming out of N.H. about the avalanche of Dem support make me believe that their is fertile ground for change.

Battling the Repubs in the the Repub nomination has earned Dr. Paul a huge amount of credibility with the people that are turning out, but I still think the message is not being heard.

People are getting wooed by Obama's smooth delivery, but they are going to have to realize that in order to really change things, we need more than just a smooth delivery.

Good Point! I'll add that as #6 (Not in order of importance)

but high turnout only favored us if we got the youth vote, which by my observation to this point is going to Obama.

I have lived with this "drones and sheep" mentality my entire life-62 years and hdespised it-railed at the ignorance of the people. I was really hoping just one time in my life the "right" candidate would win-or at least do really well. It has been so exciting supporting Dr. Paul, but realistically, the machine is stacked against him. The Freedom movemnet is not yet big enough to topple the monster.

I think I will never see it in my lifetime. You younger folks will have to work hard to wake the sheep up and it needs to be soon. Time is definitely running out for the sovereign US. Maybe one more election.

In the meantime, some of you MUST accept the challenge and run for office. You must find ways to get elected. Or you must find an Honest human being and genius to support over the next few years. This machine that runs our country-this criminal cabal--MUST be destroyed, dismantled, folded, spindled, and mutilated forever. There are very, very few Dr. Paul's out there. You must become one yourself or cultivate one.

Please do not let the next generation down. I feel as if I have been a slave my whole life and I am so angry and so want to defeat the tyrant.

Please excuse the tirade...:) I think I can go on now. :D

+1

When it finally come down to it and the numbers are in and then the blame game commences (as if it hasn't already begun) numbers 4 and 5* are sadly why his potential support evaporated. If only he were more assertive in that last ABC debate. Damn!!

*Its not necessarily the anger he has shown, its not showing it where it counts like against his competitors to their faces! He needed to show he was strong and fearless.

But, he's still got my vote regardless of the flaws!!

i think you are underestimating the resolve of the Patriots in this country. some exciting things will happen before your time is up. count on it.

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds

I have hoped all along that the FSP will come through and give Ron the big win in NH he needs. The polls don't seem to reflect that, but who knows how accurate they are. I think I'm going to be sick with anticipation before we get some word of what the results might look like tonight...

Southern NH, where all the people live, is in fact now nothing but a suburb of Boston.

And even the "most libertarian state in the country" is still like 0.2% libertarian.

Your fellow Americans hate freedom. It's pretty simple, really.

We still have to fight, because as the empire spins down the toilet people will start to remember that we tried to warn them.

Several generations who have gone through our "education" system is the problem.

Probably 95% of americans today don't even understand property rights = basis of freedom. Even fewer than that realize we don't own anything.
