OK - go to all the meetup groups with this strategy.
I guarantee you will lose 10 votes for Paul for every 1 vote moving to Santorum. People will just stay home. How many states does the straw vote even matter in? 4? Know the rules before you come up with off the wall strategies.

Why? Let them vote how they want to vote. If you want, toss the idea out there and see how they respond. Some may think it's a good idea, and some may not. You can proceed from there.
And please, enlighten me about what's wrong with voting for Santorum (or Gingrich, whoever is ahead in that particular state) in a winner take all state? Are they not winner take all? If not, we should start calling them something different.
With all of that being said, I voted for Ron Paul. I thought about voting for the Grinch in the AL primary before I walked in, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I still think it's a good strategy, but you have to be able to handle the dirtiness you'll feel after you turn in that ballot. Apparently, I couldn't.
you do have a point. i'm a baystater and have creatively gone 3rd party when i liked neither the Democrat or Republican up here.
i'd rather vote FOR someone rather than complicatedly against someone. there are those who like a james bond universe at times.

Support strategic voting for Ron Paul, especially if the state delegates are rewarded proportionality
The question is if it is worth it. You are just not going to get the word out to enough Ron Paul voters to do this. You have to realize that the majority of voters (and yes, even Ron Paul voters) DON'T go to forums like this, or view political YouTube videos, etc. So they will never know of the plan. And of those tha DO hear of hte plan, an no so insignificant number will be against it and vote for Ron Paul anyway. A realistic scenario would be to get Santorum's vote percentage up by 1%. Maybe 1.5%. Possibly enough to take 20 or so delegates out of Romney's column. All at hte expense of Ron Paul ever receiving another earned delegate.
And really..what good would it do? I hate to break it to you, but Ron Paul is not walking into the Convention with 24 earned delegates and walking out with 1144. I don't care HOW many rounds of voting there is. He simply is not going to have 45 stealth delegates for every 1 earned one.

-Santorum and Gingrich (Ron Paul stealth delegates) delegates vote for the respected two, then vote for Ron Paul in 2,3,4th round.
-Make sure Ron has a substantial number of non-stealth delegates and have plurality in 5 states (winning caucuses and winning congressional districts).

Hopefully this works and I would like to see the look on Santorum's face when he finds out a good portion of his delegates were really for Paul all a long. He'll probably go and cry and moan to the MSM.

The new strategy has to be Romney <1144.
Voting for Santorum is one of many tactics to achieve that. It might or might not be the best one, it might or might not be a good one.
But the idea isn't "Vote Santorum". The idea is "<1144".
If "Vote Santorum" isn't to someones liking, maybe "Attack Romney" would be.
All of those things have some merit.
1) Prevent Romney from getting 1144 - is essential
4) Ron Paul plurality in 5 states - is essential
2 and 3 are ways to skin a cat, but aren't essential. The Santorum and Gingrich delegates have to like Ron Paul, we're going to need some of their votes in Tampa. If we're helping by <1144 for Romney, if we take the lead on that, they'll like us more in Tampa.
Ron Paul, Santorum, Gingrich work together to keep Romney <1144.

I'm just saying that... if Mittens get 1144 in teh first round, it is over and that is not in our best interests. The plan hinges on brokered/open convention. What other choice do we have other than be stealth delegates for the enemy of our enemy? =P.......

He must have an idea of what farming is like if he spent
almost a year in Iowa. Mitt Romney like John Volpe can
handle Transportation or the like. Newt might be happy
with Energy. I am trying to place them all in Dep'ts that
can be downsized or streamlined with only minimal havoc.

Taking 20 delegates from Romney might just be enough. You can look at the math in Illinois. In one of the CDs, our delegate got 8000 votes. Nowhere near enough to win. But one of the Santorum delegates only needed 800 votes. So, if 10% of our people voted for Santorums delegates, that would be 1 delegate more for Santorum, 1 less for Romney.
If we get the delegates in Maine, they wouldn't be considered "stealth" delegates. There's a very real possibility that we get 21 delegates out of Maine. Nevada seems to look good, based on what I think I read about Clark County.
Other campaigns are focusing on states to come, we're focusing on county conventions and state conventions, and trying to win them that way.
We need to persuade delegates to vote for Ron Paul in Tampa. They won't be "stealth" Ron Paul delegates, they'll be people who don't like Romney, because we've been beating him up for 5 months. And they'll like Ron Paul more in August than in March, because we helped Gingrich and Santorum get to Tampa. They will appreciate that.
There's a lot of right, correct, accurate there. <1144 is essential. More ads attacking Romney. 3 prong attack. Good, good, good.
Would disagree with "no other choice but to be stealth delegates", but because of wording. We could just not bother with that, technically.

But Mittens may still want to do something desperate to appeal to the vote of the Ron Paul supporters. Even though he still won't get it.
