honest question...who is your #2 candidate?

It's an interesting (and legit) question. Please ignore all the immature fanatics who yell "Troll!" all the time.

Sadly, it seems that some of the worst candidates have risen to the top, especially on the republican side. I would have answered Fred Thompson as a distant second-choice among the major party candidates, because he at least seems to be an actual conservative on many issues, though he's unfortunately pro-war like the rest of them.

Now, I couldn't vote for any republican or democrat except Ron Paul. If forced to choose the least evil among the major candidates after RP, though, I'd reluctantly have to say Obama.

My second choice is senator BOYCOTT D. ELECTION, (A)narchist, from the state of Freedom.

An understandable and very sad indictment of the whole sick festering system

You've basically got 2 options

Vote for someone you don't like........... and thereby play into the hands of the globalist elite that runs the whole charade

Dont vote ........... and thereby play into the hands of the globalist elite that runs the whole charade

It ain't a great choice is it? :(

Depends on the candidates. If the Dems chose O! then I could very well vote for him against any Republican but I would consider Romney over O!. I've never voted for a Dem at the national level because I have an aversion to socialism but I will consider it this year as the Republican are destroying all civil rights.

I won't ever throw away a vote on the Libertarian Party as that is the most useless group of fools on the national level and I would rather vote for a Marxist than that piece of shit of a party. I would consider the Constitution Party if they make the ballot in all 50 states. If you can't get on the ballot your party ain't worth voting for. Ralph Nader would never get my vote and I doubt the Greens will ever run a serious candidate.

Of course there is always a chance there is an Independent run and I would look at that person. I would support a Bloomberg over Hill or McCain. Regardless of the ridiculous statements like 'voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil' and 'voting LP isn't throwing away your vote' I will only vote for a candidate with a shot of winning the presidency on election day. The stakes are to high not to vote for someone with a chance to win.

before everyone goes and says im trolling etc, if ron paul was NOT running at all, who would be your 2nd choice for president?

this is not a ron paul cant win post, this is a theoretical if paul never even ran

If you don't want to be labeled a troll, then why would you choose to post this on the day of the florida primaries, 2 hours before the polls close?

Ron Paul is running. Let's focus on reality. These forums wouldn't exist if Ron Paul was not running.

You know, Ron Paul's platform is nearly identical to that of the Libertarian party. He didn't create most of his stances...

The Libertarian Party is worse than the Democrats. Someone pointed out to me that in the 40 odd years of LP, almost no one still even knows wtf is a libertarian.

I'm happy reforming the GOP in ways the Moral Majority could only dream.

A libertarian is someone who became disgruntled with the Republican conservatives when they lost there way after Goldwater. Nixon was not a Conservative and the party started around 73 I believe. This is entirely my opinion, but I've read alot about it.

I simply cannot find the logic in such a statement. You mean to say you will only vote for someone you think can win? By this logic it is quite probable then your logical choice would be Hillary! I don't understand!?

You mean to say that it doesn't matter how vile a candidate is, he/she will get your vote simply because he/she has fooled the greatest number of voters?

There is one and ONLY one way a vote can be wasted: cast it for someone you don't believe in.

i honestly cant think of one, but i would probably lean towards obama because i hate him the least out of the rest of the candidates. but i would never vote for him, he wants tax raises and id cards and god knows what else every other liberal in this race wants (which is every candidate) but hes not mccain or hillary and hes anti-war, so that could help clear up some economic issues.

"2nd choice"? Barry Goldwater or Robert Taft. Certainly not any of the fake Republicans running.

DOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong answer!

The correct answer is NONE OF THEM

It's academic folks. Ron Paul can't win the Republican nomination. It ain't gonna happen.

But there simply is no alternative......which is terrible

So I have to say, my money is on Hitlery or Obama to get to the W-house simply because I don't reckon any of the other Republican candidates will make it all the way.

Well thank you, Mattsa, for coming over here and sharing your joy with us. Not all of us here agree with your dismal outlook. Perhaps you missed the fact that he has come in 2nd in the last 2 states and we have a long way to go. It's not over until it's over, or we all give up.

My second choice is moving to a country I have yet to determine. In other words, I'm out of here if Ron Paul is not our next President.
