Use native plants... be sure to plan their blooming time to match so the whole message is readable at one time. You don't want flowers popping up two months apart making it unreadable. Here is Texas we have a wildflower program that has been around for years. If you molest a bluebonnet it is a crime. So, if you use native plants they may be protected making it difficult for the state or fed to remove them.

Be sure to plan your bloom date. Be ready to get photos and the media involved early... just in case they plow you under.
