Hardball: Chris Matthews wants 1 hour with Dr Paul

I think he should accept the Chris Matthews invitations and snub Glen.

Not that that is smart campaigning, but it just somehow FEELS RIGHT. :-p lol

Ok Yeah I'm slightly vindicative, I confess.

Yes this is great. At the philly democratic debate (which we domanated) Mathews signed a RP sign and said "This is my candidate."

He is for real.

Leaders Must Lead!

Greetings All,

If RP doesn't do Chris Matthews or Glenn Beck there is a good reason and it would have nothing to do with HQ dropping the ball. It means RP knows traps are being laid for him. Are ya all not paying attention to all the hit pieces or what? RP is under attack so maybe, just maybe, they don't want to go into the lions den. Don't be ragging on HQ if it doesn't happen.

I agree that there may be circumstances under which Ron Paul would not agree to these interviews, but I have a hard time thinking of them. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes to arrange something like this, but from the outside it looks like a huge failure not to do them. We are the easy converts, but it isn't enough for Ron Paul to convince us. He must get exposure to TV audiences that don't rely on the internet. Glenn Beck will give him time in front of the Republican base, Chris Matthews time in front of a more liberal audience. Ron Paul can be persuasive to both.

Whatever happens the campaign needs to make an announcement to us soon to explain their rational, otherwise many supporters will start to feel like their time and money are being squandered. Only Ron Paul can win himself the Whitehouse, we are merely supporters. He is right on the issues, he has an impeccable voting record, and he has proven his ability to raise more money, win more straw polls, and draw the largest crowds of any of the Republican candidates. But to have a realistic chance of winning he must get more exposure from the MSM and win over some fraction of the hard-core political types that watch these programs.

Please Dr. Paul, step up, speak out, and lead us to victory.

I don't understand. Why are people afraid of Paul being interviewed by people that hold different views? It makes absolutely no sense for Paul to deny these requests.

I know. Its ridiculous. We complain about the media, than when the media offers us time we become primadonnas, saying we don't need them anymore. If we hold out for only guys who like us...AJ, Tucker, than we are preaching to the choir and won't grow.

If the campaign doesn't wish to do these shows they have their reasons. It does the campaign no good to come out and say why they won't go on those shows, it just gives his opponents ammo. On issues like this generally saying why you won't talk on a media show hurts your campaign not helps it.

interesting how on the one hand, we all complain about the lack of press, but at the same time you got people in the media begging for Ron Paul to come on their show.

I really hope he starts accepting some of these.

Can people please stop being so indignant about not hearing anything about the beck interview! obviously the campaign has their reasons, and obviously they are deeper then we realise, maybe Rons media advisor caught wind of something the beck show was planning, maybe they didnt like the idea of having to climb up the ridiculous wall of neo-con claims that will no doubt be thrown his way, and if its not straight from Glenn's mouth, you can bet on the fact that they will either have an "expert panel" talking about it and/or asking questions during the show, or "analysing" it after the show... would it really be worth 1 hour of possible good publicity, to be bad mouthed for the next 2-3weeks, which are crucial for the primaries... Now if all of us can just be patient and not react to every little situation, next week there will probably be more offers on better rating shows, with a more receptive audience, and a more impartial host.. maybe thats what Ron could be waiting for, a decent, no tricks show, hosted by someone who can at least feign rationality and respectfullness... not an hour of a self-important demagogue with misguided ideals and whose real intentions can not be known!

Great points.

he should go on hardball though, it would be stupid not to.

maybe these guys secretly liked Ron Paul and were just waiting to bring it out, i dunno

You guys, Glenn Beck does the hour-long specials without guest panels. There is just Glenn and the guest, sitting at a table, talking slowly and thoroughly for an hour. There is never anyone else for those hour-long shows.

Meanwhile, like someone else said, I have never seen Chris Matthews do a one-hour show before for just one guest, though it would be very cool if he did.

Just letting you know about the format.

Reminds me of Rand, in book two of The Wheel of Time.

Let's see. How much would 1 hr of commercial spot time cost? Now how much does 1 hr of Hardball time cost? You do the math.

Way back in May, Ron Paul said he would like to get to sit down for an interview with Chris Matthews. He said, "we agree on many things". or something to that affect. I think this will happen if Matthews was serious.
