Google Pulls Parler as Apple Threatens the Same in Wake of Capitol Riot

... would Ron Paul disagree with Rev3 on this issue?
...

Ron Paul can speak for himself:

Those who continue to argue that the social media companies are purely private ventures acting independent of US government interests are ignoring reality. The corporatist merger of “private” US social media companies with US government foreign policy goals has a long history and is deeply steeped in the hyper-interventionism of the Obama/Biden era.

Here's a map of the geolocation data for Parler posts from the capital:

Should AT&T, Facebook, Twitter, etc. be held to the same standard? Should Verizon get banned because someone made a phonecall from the capitol with one of their phones? Did they cancel any social media from the CHAZ/CHOP Zones? By your logic all social media should be banned. If that's the case, I am almost in agreement.

Are you pro-social media ban or anti-social media ban?

To be honest, I am rather bored of social media. I am thinking of starting an anti-social media. It would probably be quite a hit.

Rarely in US politics we see such sharp reversal in fortunes, power and image.

Sad irony is that allies of Trump's top donor Adelson appear to be lobbying for "media cutting off Trump":

Amazon, Apple and Google Cut Off Parler, an App That Drew Trump Supporters
The companies pulled support for the “free speech” social network, all but killing the service just as many conservatives are seeking alternatives to Facebook and Twitter.

Influencers with Andy Serwer: Haim Saban
Thu, January 14, 2021

ANDY SERWER: Do you agree that he should leave office before January 20, impeached by Congress or resign, perhaps?
HAIM SABAN: What I really believe is that after what he did and after the way he treated the very loyal lieutenant, I really think that Pence should call for the 25th Amendment.

ANDY SERWER: Do you think that Donald Trump is going to continue to play a dominant role in the Republican Party after this, Haim?
HAIM SABAN: It depends on the media. If the media gives him the platform they gave him before the election, worth billions of dollars of exposure, and if they caught him off, like all the online entities cut him off-- Facebook and Twitter-- if-- outside of Fox News-- Fox News is a special animal within itself. But if all the other media-- television media-- simply don't give him a platform-- you give him a platform, he's going to continue with his shenanigans, from birther all the way to inciting this group of Meshuganas to go up on the Hill. You know, so he's going to continue. And if he's cut off from the media, you know, he won't be able to have the same impact.
...
So if Trump is cut off from the media, we're going to see that division, you know, really calm down, and there will be no one to fan those flames.
