Gary Johnson Gary Johnson Is Seeking the LP Nomination

Wow. RJ Harris' platform looks awesome.

He was on Daily Paul a lot, supported Ron Paul etc. Clearly was angling for Ron's supporters, but also was advocating for Ron's issues. I don't know a lot about him, but he likes US.

They promoted his moneybombs when he ran for congress. If I remember, he was shipped out to Iraq or something during the late stages of the election so it sort of fell apart, but I don't know how well he was doing up until then.

Question: If Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination, is it just expected that the Libertarian Party will simply support him and not field their own Presidential candidate? What about the other minor parties, like the Constitution Party?

I think we can count on the LP's support. I think they'd even see it as a way to raise their clout, since Ron previously ran as a Libertarian.

If Ron Paul gets the nomination as a (R), I wish the entire LP would just rally behind him, since he fits their platform so well. I have heard the same sentiment from die-hard office-holding LP members.

This would be a huge get for the Libertarian Party if he runs. If the Libertarians reject Gary Johnson as too impure, the party will just prove itself to be a worthless ideological safe space. He is a freaking two-term Governor who describes himself as a libertarian and is solid on 90% of the issues. We'll see if the party has grown up since 1984.

Good for Gary. We need more good men running for any office under any party banner. He's better than Barr was in 08. If Paul wasn't running, I'd be on Gary Johnson Forums haha.

Good for Gary. If Ron doesn't get the GOP nomination and Gary does get the LP nomination, I will vote for Gary. Gary's not pro life which is a big hangup for me, but in this case, I'd deal with it.

Although I think politically it would be better for Gary to drop out of the GOP race, run for senate now and try again for the GOP nomination in 4 or 8 years.

A CATO candidate would be better than an 'ex' war-fascist who probably would've reverted back on all his stances when he got in office.

But I'm sure they could find someone better. Mary Ruwart would have been such a good choice last time, especially considering she seems to be make to make a compassionate case for libertarianism as well as the deontological better than anyone else.

They failed catastrophically last time, why should sacrificing even more work better?

Gary on top, RJ Harris on bottom I think would be an awesome ticket, assuming Ron doesn't win the GOP nomination. But Ron is indeed well on his way to win the GOP nomination so let's keep working hard for Ron!

Just curious - Why all the Gary Johnson hate? What specific positions has he taken that are overtly anti-libertarian? Not disputing, just wondering.

The big one people are concerned about is that he said he favors compassionate wars to liberate oppressed peoples.

What a nice way to put it. He favors "humanitarian" wars which usually consist of bombing the shit out of civilian homes and infrastructure while killing hundreds of thousands in the name of freeing them. Also wants to contain China, which will inevitably lead to another cold war, which is already shaping. He would be dangerous for the country.

Compromising is what killed the party.
