Free At Last! The next money bomb is ready!!

This moneybomb is sponsored by Trevor Lyman.

Like it or not, it will continue.

who the made Trevor God? I didn't and based on his blimp performance, he should never be put in charge of something again.

and for the 57th time, why hasn't this been moved to hot topics?

oh that's right this is all tied to the official campaign via a maze - money bombs that appear questionable are OK - blimp failure talk is not sanctioned.

Rofl, Walt. I saw you had posted something and I had to come see if it was another negative post. Sure enough it was... your consistent thats for sure. I'm still waiting for you to say 1 positive thing about this grassroots effort(Remember I asked when you would a few days ago). LoL! Gosh is there anything you do like? If your wondering why it hasn't been moved to hot topics I'll explain. The Admin's decided it was important enough to be on the main grassroots page. In other words they disagree with you so feel free to ask a 58th time, it really doesn't do anything. It seems every single project you are saying is a bad idea and that all of them should be off the main grassroots page.. What exactly is your agenda..? It certainly isn't to help our efforts unless you are just completely confused.

Chandler,

Maybe he does with your age group, because that is what you have been taught in school. But, older Americans don't have the same viewpoint. Seriously, they do not. Especially with traditional conservatives. You know, the Goldwater-Republicans. They know this other stuff about MLK. If it weren't for that, I would be all for this too.

To me, this doesn't make sense. We are going to alienate a bunch of traditional conservatives by celebrating this day. We need these people to win the Republican nomination and they are the Republicans that we actually have a chance of getting on our side.

I just joined this forum (but have been lurking for months) and I am sad to say that my first post has to be responding to this statement.

I would never presume to know your intentions but you sound like a white power guy.

Perceptions like this are hurting the campaign...

No, if you had read through LE's posts, you would have noticed that she is ALL for celebrating diversity, she just feels that MLK is a bad choice, and I agree and for the same reasons.

MLK did some great things, his "I have a dream" speech was incredible. But he also unfortunately was a Communist.

LE's concerns do not stem from racism, they stem from concern for the campaign and using MLK day for a money bomb could be perceived by the African-American community as trying to "cash in" on MLK.

And it should... These things generate a lot of excitement and buzz. We're going to need a fresh dose of this for the February 5th primaries.

Sign up! Let's get this thing rockin!

Some people here think that if you support the Guy Fawkes Day MB, you support terrorism. They got shot down, and nobody here supported terrorism.

Now, they are saying if you support a MLK day MB, you support communism. This is a ridiculous argument of course. What you really support is Ron Paul.

And he'll need to have the money coming in so that he's confident to spend all his money for the Feb 5th primary. There are new offices to open and ads to run!

Let's get going! Create videos! Spread the word!

Strategically, I'm not sure this is a great idea. Is this theme more likely to help us than hurt us?

I don't see how. Especially with some nut-cases calling Dr. Paul a "racist" with absolutely no basis whatsoever. Obviously, WE all know that Ron Paul is no racist - just the opposite. A fundraiser oriented around MLK will further drive that point home.

No completely different with Guy Fawkes, WHO was going to get offended? No one.

I for one am not equating supporting MLK money bomb with supporting Communism,a nd no one else is. There are valid concerns that did not apply to November 5th.

If this is perceived as a ploy by the African-American community to win them over, there is the possibility of blowback.

If this is perceived by the African-American community as a white man "cashing in" using MLK's name for fundraising, there is the possibility of blowback.

That being said, those that want to do it, best of luck. I have supported Nov 5 and TeaParty, but I don't intend to MLK day, because of the above concerns.

Bad idea! You will find many people will not donate to this but you go ahead to prove how righteous and superior you are.

All it takes is one person with some authority to speak on MLK's positions to say he would disagree with RP on something. At least it's not run by the official campaign.

The date has been set, and it's as good as any. Stop worrying about all the possible ramifications, and help to make it a success. The media will mostly ignore it anyway, so just use it to raise the most money possible for Ron Paul.

That's the way I feel about it.

If people decide to make a stand and not donate, that's their choice. If we only raise one million that day, we'll it's a million more than we would have had otherwise.

As far as all this "what will African Americans think" business... I hope they think "Who's Ron Paul?"

I will say again that I am against anymore money bombs in the near term; however, promote all you want and we will let the market decide.
skolwulf... i KNOW i have your video bookmarked--yet no time to get it right now. ...maybe u need to post your link here in case others haven't seen it?

u made a VERY good pt in it!! ...worth repeating ;)

+1
This MB has "blowback" written all over it. Whether you like MLK or consider him someone who's been inappropriately idolized, there are big issues here.

1) Has the King Foundation been contacted to get permission to use his name? They've sued people for things like this before.
2) Are you going to hear from Farakan, Jesse Jackson or Sharpton about using MLKs name to pander to the black vote?
3) Are you prepared to lose 50% of older voters who remember MLK as a communist, plagarist, marital cheater and rabble-rouser whose death resulted in the worst riots we've ever seen? You've only heard the PC version of MLK if you attended schools in the last couple of decades.
