Congratulations. You're another one that has led us on the slippery slope towards zero tolerance.
I may be wrong here, but there are alternatives in between "Zero tolerance, throw any drunk driver into prison for life" and "Let anyone drive with any amount of alcohol they want in their system."
If the state is going to own something, even if they shouldn't, they've got to manage it. I think that includes keeping exceptionally dangerous drivers off the road. That does not mean that I want to throw anyone who has a glass of wine before driving into prison for the rest of their life.
I remember seeing someone who had his THIRD conviction for drunk driving, and while I don't know what happened the first two times, the third time he permanently crippled someone. Someone who is that stupid and inconsiderate is an example of someone who really should go away for life, if not outright executed for murder.
Do I support that for every run of the mill drunk driver? Of course not. Heck, if you're doing it and you really aren't endangering anyone, they shouldn't have any reason to check you. Unfortunately, they will, but they shouldn't be allowed to make random stops.
But if you're driving recklessly, especially multiple counts thereof, and you were stupid enough to get drunk on alcohol and then drive (Something you could totally choose not to do) and that leads to somebody getting hurt, I absolutely find you FULLY accountable. What otherwise might have been a manslaughter charge in an honest mistake should absolutely be charged as murder.
This is programming speaking...........Fight it!
Oh, always
