In fairness... it probably was not a US strike. It was probably a French or British strike using US weapons and funding. Thank goodness NATO is there to protect civilians who produce the oil used by France. Thank goodness the French were there in Ivory Coast to protect their financial interests democracy and the people.

suggestion... we can end this type of crap by replacing our entire government. We need to be sure not to have RP be our only focus. We need to replace EVERYBODY in congress and we get a chance to do that every two years (the house, that is). If we get control of the house and senate a president could be stopped from engaging in such illegal actions... impeached, though in this case I support arrest and tried for treason.

I wasn't going to watch, at first. I suppose i didn't want those images to disrupt my peace and tranquility. Then I began to realize that I am obligated to look at it - to have the horrors and unspeakable evils seared into my memory - because I am to some extent responsible for this and far too many similar acts, as a taxpayer and as a voter. And also because I am morally obligated to speak against such atrocities, armed in some miniscule way with the memory of these pitiful men, women and children. May they now find rest, and peace.

Public protesting is certainly a viable option. But, I would suggest it is only part of the real solution. We have got to vote out ALL the bastards currently running the government. We need to focus not just on the presidency but on the congress as well. With no funding a president could not take this type of action. Without congressional support he could be impeached and removed from office... or jailed!

We need to learn from past lessons. Look at the demonstrations during Vietnam. As much as some folks would like to believe the protests ended our involvement in VN, they did not. The VN war did not end until NVA tanks came rolling down the road into Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city). We need to learn a different lesson from those protests... that the protests are not the end of the issue. We have to take additional action and replace our representative.

So... go protest. I am not saying not to. But don't forget the important part... vote the SOBs out of office. Get out there and vote... locally, regionally, statewide and nationally. And calmly, respectfully with explanations that win supporters rather than alienate them... get others to join you and vote for representatives that truly represent us.
