Evidence of some sort of military build-up - shot today in Santa Cruz CA.

It looks to me like a large shipment of new equipment heading someplace. I've seen plenty of stuff that is brand new out of the factory that is painted up exactly like that.

Back in the '60s, I saw row after row of new Military Unit Tactical Trucks (MUTT) sitting out behind the armory where I lived. They were all painted up like that. (forest green) Here is what one looks like.

I have one of these sitting out in the yard behind my house. (1974 vintage)

It is later that they paint them to fit into the area they will be used.

These do look like they are going to be used locally, but then again, they could be going someplace to be painted up to go out of the country.

Just my 2 cents.

The factory is in southern CA, those probably just came out of rebuild.

The heavy brigade combat teams that use Bradleys are at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hood. Some will be positioned at Ft. Irwin to support the NTC. The RMR (3rd ACR for those not familiar with the Regiment) may still have Bradleys the 2nd has that Stryker abomination.

Railroad Engineer and Military veteran

We move trains like this all the time here in Southern Ca, Most go to Ft Irwin NTC ( National Training Center)
The rails are owned operated by 2 different entities. One is Union pacific, the other is BNSF.

Their rails run all over to different locations around the western united states and meet up with each other to the middle of the country where 2 other railroad companies run theirs all over the place on the eastern half of the U.S.

These videos are always normal and have been for a long time. If you just see tanks or Bradleys, you probably missed the other train with the other stuff going the same way. Or they didnt want to put Humvees on it, cause they can get those at NTC by signing them out for a month..

Military posts all over the U.S., Moving equipment to strategic training centers on trains all over the U.S. is normal also.

Nothing to see here folks.. move right along....

The stuff you don't see on trains, is the stuff that is highly classified and you wouldn't know that Big rig next to you on the freeway is carrying it..

Fear-mongering is not welcome here.

Oh please.... unless you've been lurking these forums for the past four years, I doubt you would know exactly what's welcome here.

Sometimes when I think I've seen it all, along comes something that surprises me.

My reaction is, that is a lot of tax dollars and the fuel costs of moving that shit around. The DoD needs to tighten its belt.

When you see them being painted in desert camouflage that it will be something to talk about.

I see these all the time, most of them time around here it is M1 tanks going or coming from Ft Hood by train.

I could tell when after 2001 we started deployment as they went out in Desert paint, I could also tell when they were gone for repair, the fresh paint and ammo, and fresh tacks were all very evident.

I can tell you there has been a LOT of wild military training with helicopters going on with very low level flying over population centers, I've seen more apaches and blackhawks up close the last 3 weeks here in central texas (1 hour from ft food) than I have in about 7 years. 7 years back I was out at my home, which was in a popular hunting area, in the winter, when I come home from work and there is a temporary communications tower (that is VERY VERY tall, for a temp) with a tent and full HQ setup, it was there 3 days and GONE, they had cut down 2 fences to put it in, they were all repaired with new wood/wire and out like nothing happened. During that time we had helicopters flying over non stop. An apache in 'stealth-silent' mode is scary, that thing was hovering over my house and the engine was so quiet I could not hear it, I had a metal root and heard objects flying hitting it or I'd have never known it was there! I came out, looked up and waved(in the dark), they stayed about 5 min more did some changes to the blades pitch (I think/guessing here, I haven't been in an apache during flight), and it got substantially louder and flew away.
My direct home area, was quite obviously involved in some wargames, I'd love to know exactly what :)

Further back even before 2000, I used to rather enjoy the A10's that were flying overhead till I realized with their flight paths and angles, they were using certain vehicles as simulation targets for training strafes :)

There is no Stealth/silence mode in an Apache. They maybe quieter in certain flight parameters but no special mode. That myth came from the movie blue thunder and helicopter flight crews laugh to this day when they hear people refer to the silent/whisper mode.

ok, still when it hovers only, it is very very quiet. Especially when compared to the blackhawks I normally had around. (oh chinooks those things are like a thumping train!)
I guess it is just the powering up of the engines and the blade path being heard that is louder when they leave.

It it more quiet than a jet ranger as well(and some other civilian choppers)

Don't let on about the stealth M1s either. The engine just happens to be not as loud as the older M60 series tanks it replaced.

These are headed north, probaby to the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, CA

Remember, Nobel Peace Price Laureate, Obama also broke the record for Military Sales globally 2 years in a row.

In other news... the 1st Friday in June is: National Donut Day

Ah, you loved it and you know it:D

What would be most interesting to find out is if those green camo vehicles are being sent off to be painted in desert camo.
