Well no doubt there was a "conspiracy" or agenda by some in hollywood to keep that movie from getting made and then distributed, it is no theory, but common knowledge. And I think there are some hard feelings, but I think this incident would get a lot of coverage even if he hadn't ever made the movie.

For those of us Christians on board here, we know that when you spiritually stand up for Christ, you are placing yourself into the spiritual battlefield. What this means is the devil will target you possibly even more for temptation, I'm a preachers kid, what would I know about being under spiritual attack right?

For the record I am a Christian. The Passion of the Christ made me cry. I thought Braveheart was inspiring, I loved Apocalypto, and Lethal Weapon was hysterical. I defended Mel after Passion and said he was NOT anti-semitic.

Now I know I was wrong. And he is a douchebag and can go fuck himself. He will be judged eventually. As will all of us.

I know TV and big screen celebs get different treatment. But all that considered, there appears to be a vindictive agenda against Mel Gibson the way he has been treated by media since making the movie. That is no conspiracy theory, just an observation based on news reading. News reading happens to be my hobby and I tend to note media tactics and nuances.
I also recall a Kramer "rehabilitation" latterman show afterwards. None of such love for Mel. We are all humans afterall.

I hadn't even heard of this story until this morning, because FOX News woke me out of a dead sleep at 3 a.m. with the (heavily redacted) audio of that phone call, played much louder than the normal banter that goes on during that Red Eye show. Right, but you saw the movie AFTER the "blackballing" I referred to. You see, movies have to be produced and then distributed, he had great difficulty getting a distributer to pick it up and get into those theaters.

In fact, when new market films decided to distribute the film they didn't go the usual route of taking a "cut" because of the controversy and were just paid a straight fee by Gibsons company in order to get it into the theaters.

Newmarket Films has come aboard to distribute Mel Gibson's controversial film THE PASSION OF CHRIST in the US. Newmarket owns no part of the film in the deal and will simply release PASSION to theaters through their distribution division and retain a fee from Gibson's Icon Productions (who retains full rights to the film). This would, theoretically, keep Newmarket relatively free from the controversy the film is already sparking. Anti-defamation officials have decried the film saying it perpetuates the notion that Jews were responsible for killing Christ.

According to the National Enquirer (which is probably the most reliable source on the matter) the whole thing started when Mel started banging a 20 something Polish girl named Violet Kowal. This sent Oksana in to a jealous rage and they broke up shortly thereafter. According to Oksana's friends, this is when she vowed vengeance against Mel and promised to ruin his life. Oksana's own friends believe the injuries she claimed Mel caused were in fact self inflicted as part of this set up plan. Same thing with the tapes. So this has nothing to do with the Passion of the Christ. Mel just shacked up with the wrong crazy Russian. Interestingly, the wife he left for this loon is sticking up for him and supposedly offered to testify for him in the whole custody mess. He should have just done what Jesus would have done and stuck with his wife. Would have saved him a whole lot of headache.

You honestly buy this crap? Mel Gibson is far from being the ideal citizen but this character assasination is an utter joke. I've heard a few actors and Hollywood types vouching for Gibson's character, including Robert Downey Jr. and M. Night Shyamalan. He's also notorious for making extremely large donations ($10 million once and that was before the controversies) to philanthropic organizations which aid impoverished children.
