Granny Warrior Emergency

I have spoken with Linda (Granny) and the need is real. The major concern I have is that I called an AAMCO shop in Houston. I asked for a quote for a tramsmission repair for the make and model motor home that Linda has and they quoted me $2,500 for a rebuild. The guy up there quoted her $3,200 to $4,300. I called the guy and requested that he not take advantage of Linda. It may have been too little too late. Does anyone else have any ideas of how to help?

This isnt an expense guys. Its a political opportunity. This is leading by example. If we do this we can get one of our best bloggers to write about how the grassroots organization came together to support itself, carried itself over every obstacle.

The story of how Ron Paul got the granny warriors back on the road could get us more supporters than it would cost is we simply donated.

If supporters wish to continue to fund a persons vacation, it's almost a free country and I won't stop them - only question the merits.

Calling this a vacation is rhetorical bull$#!+. Then there is, "I won't stop them". How could this guy do that, other than by discouraging others which he is admittedly doing? What a load of crap!

I wasn't going to go there - but ya. The local TV stations made fun of it. What little media coverage it did receive in my area was not positive or helpful.

IIRC- the media has tried to make fun of just about everything about this campaign. From this guys logic we should stop supporting RP because the media has made fun of him.

I think the Grannies are a valuable resource. I'm not sure what's the problem.

I saw them in fort lauderdale and they were a supplier of Tshirts, Buttons, and a bunch of promotional materials.

People who recently joined the Ron Paul gang were able to grab those kinds of material on the spot! When you have a rally and a bunch of Ron Paul supporters gathered I think it's great the grannies are there to sell those items.

They are a huge constant billboard for Ron Paul. If exposure and seeing Ron Paul's name in the street is NOT important why are a hundred meet up groups having National Paint the Town Ron this weekend???

Most of those signs and banners will be pulled down but we continue to do it. The granny's RV is a great advertisement, and with all the supplies they have when they show up to the various big rallies, they are giving people the ability to also create more exposure with Tshirts, buttons, signs. slimjims, etc.

I think donating to the campaign is #1 priority, but I think efforts like the granny warriors are also quite valuable.

I see a couple possibilities here:

1- The person I am _not_ engaging is a shill.

2- " ... is bitter cynic who cannot read titles of threads and likes to post to waste time.

If #1 is the case, than it is a testemant to the effectiveness of the grannies. For certain, in a campaign that has been maligned as an internet fluke driven by young guys in their basement spamming, the effectiveness of seniors out in the streets cannot be overestimated. Our elders deserve and receive a respect that the young will never enjoy. Their appeal to other seniors is priceless.

I wonder how much they have saved all of us in shipping costs by bringing campaign material all over the place. They are a living breathing billboard. Billboards cost money, living breathing ones are priceless. A $1000 TV ad would reach 50,000 insomniacs and crack-heads. The grannies reach millions of everyday Americans, they get free TV publicity for the campaign. Yes, their RV is not as fancy as the other candidates, I see that as a plus because it shows the grassroots support RP enjoys. People are turned off by poli's wasting money on "bling"

And about fun, didn't RP state that he wants us to have fun with this GR campaign. Indeed, fun is attractive to all but the most bitter cynics. That is why other campaigns have to pay people to drive their busses. To them it's a job, to us, an adventure. A great adventure, for some knocking on doors is an adventure, or sign waving, or cold calling. For others its walking or riding or posting signs. The fact remains that the most effective of those people are the ones who have fun with it.

Which brings me to number 2;

Bitter cynics sadden me. I wish people like this would stop wasting everyones time, (which is more valuable for some than others, obviously!). Time wasters anger me. AND THAT AIN"T FUN. Either help, or get out of the way! This is grassroots, baby!

I've supported the Grannies and many other projects. I've donated to RP everything I can, whenever I can. This is a two prong campaign and the reason RP can save all the money we send him is due to the grassroots, such as the Grannies, who advertise, promote, and support his messege of individual liberty. Every aspect of a GR campaign will never appeal to every member of that campaign. Those that choose not to participipte in certain aspects should consider that negativity such as contained in this thread breeds easily and hurts in many ways, not only the aspect they happen to disagree with.

How did they respond to you, when you asked them that?

People that are hungry are in MUCH greater need than someone that wants to get their RV fixed so they can follow Ron Paul. 10 times out of 10 I would give to a food drive over buying a transmission.

The elderly women are stranded hundreds of miles from home! They are not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination! They have been busting their ass to promote Ron Paul!

Why are people coming down on the grannies? you guys really have your priorities upside down. I can almost be sure that 90% of the people bitching about the grannies haven't put in eve 5% of the time and effort that Linda puts in.
