Drudge - Shock Poll: Obama 42%, Ron Paul 41%

"I have no plans to do so" is exactly what Ron Paul used to say in 2008 when asked if he would run as a third party candidate. And then he didn't.

Does this concern anybody else? Maybe he doesn't want to run :(

My take:

Ron has already been attacked by challengers in his House district for not coming back to visit his district. Apparently, they think since he's in DC, he's there dicking around. But whatever.

He won't announce, if ever, until he has again won his house seat. Announcing that he is running for Prez would ruin his shot in Congress, and we all know he can't afford to give that up!

Yes. The establishment will seek to tear him down immediately if he shows any inclination to run early on.

I was away from the net and news all day today, then I see this! Excellent! I did win two supports today, I met a proud gun owner at a fish diner and we struck up an half hour convo, I handed him a "gun owners for Ron Paul" slim jim from 08 I had in my truck before leaving, I have a feeling him and his wife are down for Paul. They were only vaguely familiar with him, didn't know he was republican.

Little acts like these are a microcosm of the end result! Then I get home and see this!!!

It dawned on me today that perhaps this is a strategy. Bear with me. The CFL seems to imply to the die hard supporters that he is running by bolding certain text like "Ron Paul will be campaigning in Iowa, that's right Ron Paul will be in Iowa this Saturday" or "Come join Ron Paul while he kicks off a campaign tour in New Hampshire to promote so-and-so" and yet Ron Paul himself acts dismissive of a 2012 run. The thought that came to me was that while the CFL can subtly imply that he is by innuendo to the core faction of supporters to keep us motivated or whatever, Paul himself must dismiss the notion to the general public. The reason? Could he be trying to extend his ability to get on major media outlets as far as possible because he knows that the moment he declares that he is running he knows that the media blackout machine will commence from that moment on? Or that the attacks will be leveled at him from all manner of foe, which will distract him from trying to gain as much credibility and new supporters when not trying to be so defensive?

I don't think Ron Paul is being anything but completely honest when he says that it is way too early to decide. He is waiting a while longer to see how things play out.

I actually found this looking on infowars to see if they made any more frightening documentaries. This is just awesome, just frickin awesome! God forbid Ron runs in 2012. The media will absolutely rip him apart. What a war it will be.

I'm not sure what you expect him to say when he's constantly being asked questions he has no answers for. Keep in mind he was asked if he would run as a third party candidate WHILE he was running as a Republican. And now he's being asked if he will run with years left in this presidents term. Giving the same answer in both cases doesn't indicate what he will do, it indicates how the media asks stupid ass questions.

There is no strategy involved with Ron Paul's answer.

Fortunately for us the influence of the corporate owned, establishment-mouthpiece "mainstream" media over the American public is fading fast.

Someone on another comment board asked if Ron Paul was peaking too early. It's a valid question, but the truth never peaks. The timing of the poll was impeccable in that it happened before his speech tomorrow at the rally and allows people enough time to check him out and vet him. The cat is out of the bag, IMHO. The other polls will have to start adding RP to their general election vs. Obama questions.

Bingo! The other breakthrough of this poll is it should force the media into including Paul in the presidential polls, for tracking purposes from this point on. The MSM's approach in 2007 was to leave his name out of 95% of the surveys, which amounted to a soft blackout of the candidate vis a vis the regular public. The same media would then say he was not being added because he's only at 1% or so, so he wasn't worth tracking---when it was that very exclusion that was keeping his numbers down.

I had feared the media was going to change the rules again for the primaries next year, and exclude any candidate who wasn't deemed a frontrunner from the primary debates from the outset, precisely to prevent Paul from getting a head of steam as he had in 2007. It now appears Paul's momentum has headed them off at the pass, and they will have to treat him seriously from the get-go if they wish to retain any drop of credibility in their political coverage of the Presidential race.

Quite possible, but his peaking as a serious candidate at this point prevents the media from pre-judging him as unelectable, the way they did in early 2007, then locking that perception in stone throughout the year regardless of his debate victories, growth in grassroots support, fundraising, and winning most of the straw polls.

The major difference this time will be those local CFL groups all over the nation (most of which used to be Ron Paul meetups). What CFL groups have served as are vehicles to "keep the motor running" on the Paul movement---so as soon as he announces he's going for it, I'll wager they will flip right over and re-title themselves Ron Paul meetups again to promote his candidacy. The grassroots will not have to build from scratch this time, we're ready roll at once, upon his throwing his hat in the ring.

I heard about this on neocon talk radio after work today. The talk-show host was freaking out: "Ron Paaaaaaauuuuulllll!!!!! Ron Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauull!!!!"

Had to see it to believe it...amazing...

I just read this entire thread with a huge smile on my face. What great news for the liberty movement and I can't stop smiling even as I type this. :D

Some great insight and opinions from the liberty lovers present her. Get ready for the onslaught but do not worry because truth is Dr. Paul's greatest attribute and he will be vindicated by 2012. The economy will only worsen simply because the government has increased the roadblocks instead of removing them. The coming collapse of the Ponzi Social Security system will be a major event and the methods employed to "bail-out" the hollow system will be even more disastrous to the establishment. Thus the talking point that Dr.Paul would throw people out on the street would not work because his solution is to end the $1 trillion a year foreign empire and tie the people over while letting the younger ones plan their own future. He is the only one who actually has a practical solution and that is why corporate media propagandize against him.

The Money bomb has been discussed here and in my opinion the first one should be held on Dec 16th 2010. I may be wrong, but aren't the elections over by first Tuesday of November? If that is true than Dec 16th is perfect because a month+ allows Dr. Paul to announce, have a website up an running and for us to do our thing. A $10 million dollar day is entirely possible and will be a great building block for the following ones. I plan on donating the maximum, but more importantly I already have people lined up who did not donate last time around simply because they did not know Dr. Paul. Furthermore, not a day goes by when I don't mention Paul to someone new. However, almost every day I encounter someone who has never heard of him. A brief introduction of Dr. Paul after I have described his position on the topic being discussed leaves people intrigued and coming back for more. Just today, my co-workers were talking about Taxes and I briefly told them about the principle of being truly free and how the government decides what we get to keep. They all agreed with me and then I told them about Dr. Paul and how he wants to get rid of the IRS and income tax. A new employee who started a week ago had never heard of Dr. Paul until today and I made a mental note to gently begin to enlighten this person on the principles of liberty. But, instead, she brings up the subject of education and how her cousin, who is a teacher, was complaining that there were no funds for PE equipment. I pointed out to her that for every dollar that the government takes from states for educational purposes only half is ever returned. Of course, I also told her about Dr. Paul's position on the issue and out of amazement she said "why have I never heard of this guy?" No problem, She will hear about him and his wonderful ideas from me plenty! My point is that just keep talking to people and the opportunities of bringing up issues of liberty and Dr. Paul are boundless simply due to the governments claws in every facet of our lives. Be an upstanding citizen with good morals, honesty, and integrity at all times. People will gravitate to you if you speak the truth.

I apologize for the rant.

Peace

I have the feeling that Rasmussen decided to do this poll to see if RP's recent straw poll showings were truly "a bunch of spammers in mom's basement" or whether his support is actually real across a broad base. I bet they were very surprised at the results and probably expected to be able to marginalize his straw poll showings, not cement them as being real. If that is the case, kudos to Rasmussen for releasing the results. They could have very easily just made the poll disappear.

In order for their to be a money bomb on 12/16/10, doesn't there have to already be a Ron Paul 2012 campaign website in place where we can make the donations?

But I think we need to anticipate what will be thrown our way. We MUST have a website that debunks all of the myths about RP and how most corporate media sources and personnel do their best to distort and spin his message. The sooner, the better.

Agreed. Posting comments on blogs like this is about as technically advanced as I can get, but I have always envisioned a very simple, user friendly site that could be called something like "AskRonPaul.com" Think of ask jeeves, but instead, curious voters could type in a question and key words could link to famous qoutes from the good doctor regarding that topic.

It could come off as a fun sort of game and really become quite addicting for an unsure voter. I'd say viral potential. Anyone want to run with it? :)

I think there are many who are biased, but honest. Some people view all media as a giant conspiracy. I think that's highly inaccurate.
